Sizing Information

We tried the size Medium in this jacket on Huey and we put an XL jacket on Dewey. These are the sizes they normally wear and both fit great. The general style of this jacket is “relaxed” and generally is an easy fit for most people. My primary advice would be to wear the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. If you are between sizes I’d advise you to go down.

The chart provided by Speed and Strength shows chest sizes for each alpha size that are a bit larger than what you’d normally see for “standard” conversion from chest size to alpha size. Based on my observations (above), the chart seems just about right, and appropriate given the relaxed styling of the jacket. If your chest is at the upper end of any of these ranges, I’d suggest you choose the larger.

Size Small Medium Large XL 2XL 3XL
Chest 38-40 40-42 42-45 46-48 49-52 53-56
Sleeve 33 34 35 1/2 36 1/2 37 37 1/2

If you have a bit of a belly, you might want to put a tape around it and make sure the size you are choosing will work for the belly as well. The max belly sizes for any jacket size will be about 4” smaller than the max chest listed. For example, the size XL will handle up to a max 48” chest and a max 44” belly.

Sleeve length: The sleeve length on the jacket felt “average” to shorter, so those with average or shorter arms should be fine with the cut of this jacket, but if you are tall and slender you probably will find the sleeve length to be too short.

Our Two Cents

The Overhaul jacket is a street style jacket with features you’d expect to find in any typical textile style, but the shell of this jacket is made of denim. The jacket is nicely styled and has some neat little touches like leather trim on the sleeve ends and subtle contrast stitching on the sides of the pockets and a few other places.

The jacket has a vest-type removable thermal liner to help add a bit of warmth in cooler weather. Being a denim however, wind will not be blocked and therefore, I’d recommend this jacket for warm (maybe even hot weather) down to coolish weather but not cold weather. Certainly not wet weather either.

Other misc features include three pockets on the front, but none inside (strange), loops in back to attach the jacket tail to a belt, side waist adjustment zips and a band of nighttime reflectivity across the shoulders in back.

The jacket has removable armor for shoulders, elbows and back, and even though the factory doesn’t mention any other reinforcements, I feel a double layer of material at the shoulders and elbows and when I read the garment label, it mentions “kevlar on the shoulders and elbows”. The liner of the jacket is a solid material, so I can’t see in there to verify, but I’m betting that second layer of fabric is the Kevlar reinforcement.

This jacket, with the denim construction, is definitely a casual style which could work for cruisers, vintage or everyday street use. Overall, a nice looking jacket. :: Paul, 08-09-16
