Sizing Information

This jacket is a standard cut street leather jacket and it fits a bit more relaxed than other Roland Sands styles. We measured a selection of sizes and also tried these on our fit test mannequins. Huey is wearing a medium and Dewey is in the XL. These are the sizes they normally wear. The fit looks good.

I’d advise to choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. To make size selection easier, we’ve developed the chart below to help you choose a size based upon your chest and belly measurements. If you have a bit of a belly, just make sure that the jacket you choose will be big enough for both your chest and belly.

Note: if you plan to add a back protector to this jacket, then add 1” to the chest/belly measurements before choosing a size.

Jacket Size Max Chest Max Belly
Small 38 36
Medium 40 38
Large 43 41
XL 46 44
XXL 48 46
XXXL 51 49

Our Two Cents

I really like this Ronin textile jacket. The shell material is a waxed cotton that is sturdy, but not as “crunchy” as a standard riding jacket and has a soft/premium look to it.

The waxed cotton used in this jacket (and many RDS jackets) looks a little like suede but it is much less heavy than leather would be. This one has a lot of sharp perforated leather trim. I’m looking at the “Ranger” color and it has brown perf leather trimming the pockets, the main zipper, the inside of the collar and other places inside. It is a really sharp contrast that makes this jacket look more special than most.

The Ronin comes with provisions for the addition of protective armor. The armor is made by Forcefield and is nice stuff. The armor pieces themselves are a three ply arrangement which allows them to flex and mold to your body shape easily. Adding the armor makes this jacket as protective as the better sport/race jackets we sell. Many cruiser/retro styles we sell don’t have armor as standard so having the ability to add good armor is a big plus for the Clash. Take the links below to purchase the armor pieces you want.

The overall style of this jacket is “standard” and I think nearly any style of rider would feel at home (RSD says it has an “agressive” fit, but I don’t think so). The overall length is longer than a sport jacket so you’ll get a bit more coverage when on the bike and the jacket will feel more at home off the bike as well. I like how they gave a couple short zips on the sides of the torso down low. This will let the jacket drape more easily over your lap when sitting on the bike.

This is a sharp style that you’ll be comfortable with almost immediately and the styling is great IMHO. :: Paul, 03-22-18

Roland Sands says: Introducing the Ronin in waxed cotton. An alternative version of our ever-popular Ronin jacket. This waxed cotton version provides a unique take on a classic design by RSD. Same fit and features as the all leather version, but with lighter weight breathable RSD waxed cotton finish. The jacket material is naturally water repellent and the added leather treatments on the zippers and cuffs offer some extra detail. Classic, redefined.
