Sizing Information

Generally speaking, Olympia gear will work best on those with larger builds and/or people who like their clothing to fit more casually. In contrast, our European brands fit more snug and trim (REVIT, Alpinestars are examples). We tried a size Medium jacket on Huey and an XL on Dewey (our Fit Check mannequins) and they fit just fine. You can see some shots of how they look by clicking the “View Larger Images” link above.

Olympia’s standard size chart reflects the generous sizing for jackets on the larger end of the spectrum, but we think it understates the size of the smaller jackets. To make size selection easier, we’ve developed the chart below to help you choose a size based upon your chest and belly measurements. If you find yourself between sizes in the chart, I’d advise going with the smaller due to the generally generous cut of the jacket.

Jacket Size Max Chest Max Belly
Small 40 38
Medium 43 41
Large 45 43
XL 48 46
XXL 51 49
XXXL 54 51
XXXXL 58 56

Our Two Cents

The X Moto 2 jacket by Olympia is a FULLY featured jacket for touring and adventure riding and even more athletic off-road use. It is a very technical design with LOTS of climate control option… even a hydration system!

The shell of this jacket is a solid textile design but with extensive venting too. Panels on the chest, sleeve and back “convert” from the solid textile to full mesh. The panels tuck down in compartments when zipped open so you don’t have to keep up with them which eliminates the possibility of losing them. I’d say a lot of air will flow with those panels open since about 30% of the exterior will be converted to mesh.

But then for wet and/or cold weather, this jacket can perform well also. Included is a removable two stage liner which is styled to be worn off the bike as a casual/waterproof jacket… with or without the thermal liner. That combination of features makes this jacket extremely versatile. I’d encourage you to take a look at our photo gallery to see the jacket, the waterproof liner and thermal liner. You can use one, the other, or both depending upon the weather. The removable rain jacket also has an integral hood so you can put it on under your helmet to keep rain from going down your neck. Olympia says the rain jacket can be worn over or under too. With the rain liner over, the jacket shell will remain dry along with the contents of the pockets, which is a very good option for persistent rain. And since it is styled to be suitable for use off the bike, it will great for travelers where space is tight. No need to pack a jacket for casual use!

The overall construction of the outer shell feels sturdy and well made. Like most other longer jacket styles, this one has side waist adjustment straps to get the fit right for your torso size. And the sleeves are adjustable with Velcro straps as well at the crook of the elbow. You’ll be able to adjust the sleeve to hold the elbow armor in position in case of a fall. It even has an adjustable draw cord around the bottom to seal out cold or wet weather. The main zipper is two way so you can zip the jacket open from the bottom to get a bit more room around your hips when sitting which is a common feature on longer jackets like this.

There is a long list of features to show you and I encourage you to look at all our close up pictures. There is plenty of storage on this jacket including a large rear waterproof fanny pouch. You’ll find as much storage built in here as any of the touring jackets Olympia sells. Also, check out the hydration system. It consists of a water bag enclosed in its own small back pack. And the hose is routed over the shoulder so you can take a sip when needed. And the whole hydration system can be removed for rides where you don’t anticipate using it.

CE armor is supplied for the shoulders and elbows and the back pad is included too. Some premium jackets don’t come with a back pad, or at least not a CE back pad, but this one does… no need to upgrade. This X Moto 2 jacket really does pack in ALL the features I think you could possibly ask for into one jacket, so if you plan some extensive riding off the beaten path, then this just might be the thing you need!
