Olympia Expedition 2 Jackets (SOLD OUT)

Generally speaking, Olympia gear will work best on those with larger builds and/or people who like their clothing to fit more casually. In contrast, our European brands fit more snug and trim (REVIT, Alpinestars are examples). We tried a size Medium jacket on Huey and an XL on Dewey (our Fit Check mannequins) and they fit just fine. Olympia’s standard size chart reflects the generous sizing for jackets on the larger end of the spectrum, but we think it understates the size of the smaller jackets. To make size selection easier, we’ve developed the chart below to help you choose a size based upon your chest and belly measurements. If you find yourself between sizes in the chart, I’d advise going with the smaller due to the generally generous cut of the jacket.

Wow, the new Olympia Expedition 2 jacket is built for the road in nearly any weather conditions! The climate control features here are extensive. The jacket comes with a full set of CE level 2 armor for shoulders, elbows and back. There is truly nothing else to buy here.

If you plan to hit the road and you’re looking for one jacket that can cover you from hot/dry to cold/wet then look no further. We sell a number of jackets that are built to be “four season”, but this one really does cover all and every seems to work well.

The shell is a typical touring/adventure style textile setup has great styling good storage options. The fit is adjustable at the waist, torso and arms. The textile shell has some REALLY extensive built-in venting options too. There are two large panels on the front that zip down and fold away to expose a pretty large mesh panel on each side. Large panels like this vent a lot more air than simple zip vents because the opening is so much larger. Also, there are LONG sleeve zippered vents on both sides to allow some air to blow up the arms. And finally there is a zip down panel in back to exhaust the air passing through. Those zip down panels on the front and back fold down into hidden pockets so you won’t loose any parts and pieces. The zippers work easily and they have nice zipper pulls so you can do it with gloves.

The second part of your four season setup are the removable liners. There are two. First, is a waterproof and breathable rain liner that can be worn under or over the jacket in case of wet weather. If you wear it under, it will serve well as a wind barrier, but if you want to get the most out of it in rain, then wear it over. In both color choices the rain liner is BRIGHT neon. In rain, you will be less visible on the road, so there’s another reason to put the rain liner OVER the jacket. The rain liner is styled so you can wear it separately too. That’s a handy feature when you are on the road so you don’t have to pack another casual jacket in your limited luggage space.

The second liner is a traditional quilted thermal liner. It’s full sleeve and you can add it inside the jacket like you’d expect to add a layer of insulation to the basic jacket. And you can also zip it onto the rain liner. In that configuration, you can wear the thermal liner with the rain jacket off the bike for cold nights. So there are lots of options for using the thermal liner too.

The armor package included with the Expedition 2 jacket is top notch. It is the energy absorbing rubber type found in many types of motorcycle apparel. It is also the CE level 2 type, which is thicker than the standard CE level 1 units. Same goes for the back pad. The jacket comes with the full set so there is nothing else to buy.

If I only owned one jacket and planned on a long trip where I’d encounter a wide variety of weather, this new Expedition 2 jacket would be on my short list for the one to have. :: Paul, 01-08-19
