Moose Racing ADV1 Jacket

These jackets are sold in US men’s sizes. We measured and checked the sizing on a selection of jackets and we find the jackets fit like most people would expect for their size. Our primary advice would be to choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing.

To check your size selection by measuring, have a look at the size chart from Moose below. the chart lists the max chest for each size. You can measure your chest and then use the chart to choose a size that will be big enough.

This style of jacket doesn’t taper from chest to waist so the max belly for each size is about the same as the chest for any given size. If you have a big belly, check yourself around the belly to make sure the size you choose will work around the belly as well. It is fine if your waist is smaller because the waist is adjustable with the side straps. The arms are also adjustable to give a good fit.

The ADV1 jacket by Moose Racing is their best, full coverage adventure/dual sport jacket. It sports a “bonded” waterproofing technology which give very good waterproofing capabilities and excellent venting too. And this is a feature packed and VERY very sturdy garment!

The bonded waterproofing technology used in this jacket means that the waterproofing barrier is bonded to the back side of the shell material rather than being a separate layer that is installed between the outer shell and the inner lining. The advantage to being bonded is that water doesn’t pass through the outer layer before it reaches the liner and so the shell material doesn’t become water logged. It also means that zippered venting on the jacket allows air to pass through the shell and directly to your skin, which is a lot more effective than water proof liners that block the flow of air.

The armor in this jacket is CE Level 2 from D3O. We have a lot of experience with D3O and we really like it. We sell tons of it as an aftermarket product. It is a very effective armor and it is super comfortable. The material will absorb impact energy well, but is SO SOFT! No need for any armor upgrades with this jacket since you have the best.

This jacket offers excellent climate control. As mentioned above the zip vents should do a great job of passing air through. Take a look at our photo gallery to see the various vents. You’ll see them on the sleeve ends, underarms, chest and two pair of zips in back. And for cold weather use, the jacket has a very nice full sleeve removable thermal vest liner. That liner zips in, but it is styled to be used off the bike too, so this will be a handy feature when you are travelling and have limited luggage capacity.

The overall ruggedness of this jacket is excellent and all the zippers, etc are super sturdy. I see this jacket lasting its owner for years. One other nice convenience feature I see are the magnetic closures over the main zipper. It takes just a jiffy to get to the main zipper and then to re-close it. There are even a couple magnets to allow you to pin back the collar if you don’t want it to be zipped all the way up.

Also, note the pockets… four in front and one huge fanny pack pocket too. And inside there is a pocket for your technology both on the thermal liner and in the jacket liner, so you’ll have that with or without the liner in use and being inside, it will keep your stuff dry too. I also note there is a zipper on the back to slip a hydration bladder into and up near the collar in back is a grommet you can pass the tubing through. I also see a 3/4-around zipper for connection to compatible pants. When you visit the photo gallery, note the reflectives… they really light up in our test pictures.

Moose has packed a lot of features into this jacket which are specifically designed for success adventure riding. Its a lot of money, but it is also a lot of jacket that should hold together for years. :: Paul, 11-20-17
