Sizing Information

We tried the size Medium in this jacket on Huey and we put an XL jacket on Dewey. Both jackets fit, but there wasn’t a lot of room for error in both the waist and chest. This style has a bit more of a “European” fit than most Icon jackets. We generally advise people to buy the size they normally wear in men’s clothing, and I’d stick with that advice on this style as well IF you like a trim fit. If you like more room and/or you are between sizes, the choose up.

Below is the size chart offered by Icon and in the case of this style, I’d say it is just about right. If you measure and use the chart you may well find yourself buying one size larger than usual.

Size Icon’s Chest Est Our Max Belly
Small 36-38 34
Medium 38-40 36
Large 40-42 38
XL 42-44 40
XXL 46-48 44
XXXL 48-50 46

Our Two Cents

I really liked the Akromont pants when I reviewed them a few days ago and I like the jacket too! The styling is unique… it has sort of a European fit, but its easy to wear and I think looks sharp. The fabric has a more soft feel than a regular textile jacket and looks more “dressy” than most motorcycle jackets which makes the Akromont one you could wear anywhere.

I’d say this jacket will be good for cooler (or even cold) weather use up through warm or mild weather use. Its not a heavy jacket, but it doesn’t have much in the way of venting, so it won’t be comfortable in hot weather. So lets say 3 seasons. For colder weather use, this jacket has a vest-type removable thermal liner. And of course you can layer under this jacket with your own garments to go down into colder weather. The shell will be windproof and with the extra room in the shoulders/arms, etc you’ll have room to add those layers. For warm weather use, the sleeve end zips are “two way” so you can zip those down from the top to create a vent to shoot some air up the arms. But that’s all there is in the venting dept.

You get a complete set of armor inserts by D3O which is Icon’s “go to” brand of armor. The armor is ideal for a jacket like this since it is soft and flexible and comfortable. So there will be nothing else to buy to make this jacket fully protective. Take a look at the stamped leather on the elbows. It is a matte finish black leather with a quilted pattern which gives good style and also makes those elbows more abrasion resistant in case you fall.

I like the black stretch material incorporated into the jacket just behind the shoulders. Those help when you reach forward for the controls. I also like how the collar is lined with a very soft micro-fleece material. :: Paul, 05-08-18

Icon says: The unknown rolls steadily toward us as we are writing the history of things to come. Stare through the haze and face it head on in the ICON 1000 Akromont jacket. Its durable textile chassis is grafted with drum-dyed leather panels to provide the retrograde engineered riding solution. A full D3O® impact protector package (elbow, shoulder, back) is standard with the Akromont, as is the removable insulated SatinCore vest liner. YKK® Aquagard zipper and Clarino® lined collar complete the package. Our last stand will not be in the future. It will be here, in the present. Stand with ICON 1000.
