Sizing Information

The Stewart Air jackets are offered in European sizes. The normal formula to convert a European size to a US size is to subtract 10 from the European size to get the approx US chest size, and that works pretty well for this style.

Use the chart I put together below to choose a size that will be big enough for both your chest and belly. The jackets are cut more casually and so the taper from chest to waist isn’t nearly as aggressive as a sport/race jacket, so the belly size won’t be an issue for most, but I put my estimate of max belly in the chart so you can make sure the size you choose based on your chest measurement will be big enough for your belly as well.

Jacket Size Max Chest Max Belly/Waist
46 36 34
48 38 36
50 40 38
52 42 40
54 44 42
56 46 44
58 48 46
60 50 48

Our Two Cents

The leather used on this new Stewart Air jacket really feels nice. It is a mid-weight leather with a very soft touch to it. It is not as dense and stiff as the cowhide that we commonly see in sport/race jackets or suits. REV’IT calls it out as buffalo hide, but it looks nothing like buffalo jackets I’ve seen in past years. To me, it looks and feels like a very nice, high-quality cowhide. The buffalo jackets I’ve seen typically are thinner, but more dense and less pliable and have a VERY shiny finish. Anyway, I certainly don’t doubt what they say, but don’t be put off by the use of buffalo as compared to cowhide, because I really don’t think you’ll be able to tell.

Nearly the entire body of this jacket is perforated to flow a lot of air in hot summer weather. The perfs are big too… not like the little “micro perfs” I often see these days, but these perfs are larger…. much like the perfs Vanson leathers made famous many years back before mesh jacket styles were around. This jacket ought to perform quite well in warm summer months. And in cooler weather, you can utilize the full sleeve insulated liner that comes with the jacket. When you pop that in, some of the air flow will be restricted and the liner’s insulation will keep you warm. I’d suggest this jacket for warm… maybe even hot weather down to cool weather. I’d say 3 seasons for most.

The styling is very nice. I like the quilted shoulders which gives it sort of a vintage vibe. There is a short rear zipper for connection to any REV’IT pants and if you just pair this jacket with jeans, there are a couple loops that can attach to your belt.

The armor in this jacket is REV’IT’s Seesmart CE level one armor. It is much thinner than the traditional “turtle shell” armor found in most sport jackets. The thinner armor makes this jacket fit and look more like a casual street jacket which will make you more comfortable wearing it off the bike. The jacket is set up for an optional back protector if you want to add it.

Overall, a very nicely styled leather jacket and this one makes a great solution for people who want to be comfortable with a leather jacket in warmer weather. :: Paul, 02-14-17

Add a Back Protector: This jacket is made with a pocket to accept a Seesoft CE Level 2 Back Protector Insert type RV (RV refers to the shape). For sizes 46 or 48, choose size 3; for 50 thru 54, choose size 4 and for sizes 56 and 58 choose size 5.
