Sizing Information

We tried the size Medium in this jacket on Huey and we put an XL jacket on Dewey. These are the sizes they normally wear and both fit great.

The sizing of the jackets follows their size chart pretty closely. The smaller sizes measure out about what you’d expect, and the jackets get a bit more roomy as the sizes increase. For example, a Medium measures out at about 42” max chest which is about right as compared to other brands. The XL measures out about at 48” which is roomy for an XL.

So my primary advice is to select the size you normally wear in men’s clothing if you are size Large or smaller, and for those in the larger size ranges, I’d suggest you measure your chest and belly and pick from the chart below.

Size Max Chest Max Belly
Small 40 36
Medium 42 38
Large 44 40
XL 48 44
XXL 52 48
XXXL 56 52
XXXXL 60 56

Our Two Cents

This new Midnight Express Mesh jacket is pretty darn nice! I’ll have to admit that most full-mesh jackets are pretty comparable and I wasn’t expecting to see much to talk about with this one but I’m pleasantly surprised. What I like about this jacket is the material that is used to tie together all the mesh panels… around the collar, shoulders, elbows and down the sides of the torso. The material feels like a cross between neoprene and fabric. I’ve seen something similar used for several years in race jackets and suits in the underarm areas to give a better fit, and also to give some stretch for ease of movement. The material is a bit heavier than the normal Cordura used by most mesh jackets and adds some weight to the whole frame, but at the same time it is highly flexible and with just the little stretch, it makes the whole thing feel pretty nice.

Otherwise, this mesh jacket is very much like all others…. CE armor in the shoulders and elbows, a removable back pad. waist and arm adjusters to fine tune the fit and a reasonable assortment of pockets. Also there are provisions for connecting the tail of the jacket to your belt.

Take a look at our photo gallery to see some details. I really think you’ll agree with me that this mesh jacket is a good one. :: Paul, 02-09-17
