Sizing Information

We measured a selection of these jackets and also tried them on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey to see how they fit (Huey is in a Euro 52 and Dewey is in a 58) and they both look great. The overall fit is snug as compared to most European sized jackets we offer. Normally we’d put our mannequins in a 52 and 56.

This product is sold in European sizes. Generally speaking, the US chest size in inches is equivalent to roughly 10 points less than the European jacket size. Example: a 56 Euro jacket is similar to a size 46/XL men’s US size. But since this jacket style runs a bit more snugly, we recommend buying one size larger, add about 12 points to your US chest size to get the right Euro size. I’d suggest you measure yourself with a tape and get your chest size and belly size, then use the size chart to pick the smallest size jacket that will be big enough for both your chest and belly using the chart below. Approximate US alpha sizes are also listed in the chart so you can check if the jacket size you choose is the same alpha size as you normally wear in men’s clothing.

Sizing tips for upgrading armor: If you plan to add a back protector and/or chest pads add 1” to your measured chest/belly size before using the size chart.

The overall cut of this particular style jacket is very much in line with many Dainese sport jacket styles. The max belly is about 4” smaller than the max chest which is about what we expect.

Our Two Cents

The Dainese Dinamica Air D-Dry jacket is a great choice for use on warm summer days. It’s a super sharp design with very robust armor and other protective features. It’s definitely a sport/race style.

The overall construction of this jacket is for mild to hot summer days as most of the shell is flow-thru mesh material. Other parts of the jacket are a mix of materials. There is a good bit of stretch textile materials (in the blue jacket it is the blue parts). The stretch material makes this sport cut jacket move a lot easier on you than if it was all non-stretch materials. Over the shoulders and elbows there is a VERY robust abrasion resistant material and on the shoulder, there is an aluminum armor plate over that. The armor included in the shoulders and elbows and very strong stuff too. It’s a hard plastic and foam type typically found in race suits and jackets. The elbow armor extends all the way down the forearm to give great coverage. Lastly, the jacket is set up with pockets for the addition of a back protector and chest protectors (see my advice below). The overall effect of the protection features is very impressive. I’ve often bragged about Alpinestars street jackets and how their armor package is the best we carry… well, I’d say this Dainese jacket has equal armor, so its about as good as it gets, especially for a mesh/summer jacket style. You can couple the jacket with a Dainese sport pant with the long zipper in the rear of the jacket to make a sharp 2pc riding suit.

With the jacket, you get a full sleeve waterproof and breathable inside removable liner. It’s a nice setup because it is styled so you can wear it off the bike too (this may help since there isn’t a lot of luggage room on sport type bikes). The liner can be used under the jacket for a wind block, or of course, it can be used in rain to keep your torso and arms dry if it rains. MANY summer mesh styles have a removable liner that can act as a wind block. The wind blocking will come in handy on cool mornings or if you ride in the mountains and go through varying temps throughout the day.

For the review of this jacket, we are using the Black/Fire Blue/Fluorescent which is unique and I personally think is really sharp. :: Paul, 01-11-19

This jacket has pockets for the addition of a back protector and also there are pockets for chest pads. The back armor pocket takes either of the two back pads listed below. For a summer style like this, I’d steer you toward the Pro-Armor unit allows air to flow through it. You can also add chest armor (also listed below) and I’d also recommend the Pro-Armor unit for the chest, again for the best air flow. With the full set of armor in this jacket, it is a FULLY ARMORED jacket. I’m not sure what else in the store we have that would exceed this package except for one of the air bag jackets. It is really robust! There is a long zipper in back to connect the Dainese pants.
