Sizing Information

We tried on the Verex jackets in a size XL and Medium on our Fit Test Mannequins. Being a street style, I thought both jackets fit well. This jacket doesn’t taper a lot from chest to waist and should be an easy fit for most. The intended fit is sort of casual and comfortable. Based on what we saw, I’d advise you to buy the size you normally buy in men’s clothing. If you are sometimes between sizes, then I’d advise you to choose the smaller.

Below is AGV’s “official” size information for textile and mesh styles and I list it just for your reference. As you can see from the chart below, the chest sizes indicated for each “alpha” size are quite large as compared to “normal” men’s sizing (by about one full size). I don’t personally think this jacket fits quite as large as their chart indicates, so I’ve added a column to show you what I measured for max chest and max belly.

Our Two Cents

AGV Sport’s Verex jacket is a hybrid textile and mesh jacket. And it has a removable windproof liner to help close off the airflow through the mesh parts of the jackets in cooler weather.

The shell is about 50% mesh jacket, so the air will blow right through those panels. And also you’ll find two rather small vents on the upper bicep area to draw in a bit more air. So with all that venting, this jacket, without the liners in use, will be comfortable into the most hot days… almost, but not quite as good as a full mesh jacket. Please click on the View Larger Images link above to see some close-ups and you can see what I mean about the location and size of those mesh areas. The removable liner setup is your typical arrangement. It is basicially a long sleeve windbreaker, and when installed in the jacket, will block the free air flow through the mesh areas and make the jacket more usable in cooler temps.

The armor system consists of the usual shoulder and elbow pieces under the shell and this jacket has some reinforcements on the shoulder and bicep areas too. Those are mostly cosmetic, but they do look sharp and would provide at least some additional degree of crash protection. The jacket comes with a back pad, but if you want to upgrade to a CE certified unit, you can do so with one of the options down below.

Other little features of note are a short rear zipper for connection to AGV Sport pants (that have a mating zipper) and nighttime reflectives front and back. I like the rolled/padded soft material around the collar and at the sleeve ends which are very comfortable. Also, you get adjusters for fit at the waist and also on the sleeves.

So for a simple, low cost jacket that will cover most fair weather riding, I rather like this design. :: Paul, 04-21-17
