Sizing Information

The 2015 group of Z1R leather apparel items is all new and so far, I have not been able to get a published size chart. But I did measure the chest and belly area of this jacket and it measures out about like you’d expect for the men’s alpha sizes listed.

We also put the Medium on Huey and the XL on Dewey and they look good. I developed a chart below to show you the max chest and max belly size for each alpha size offered. But generally speaking, most people can choose the size they normally wear in men’s clothing.

I did notice that in trying on the jackets, the sleeve length on this model was slightly shorter than with the other models. If you have shorter to average arms, this one will be fine, but if you have relatively longer arms or even some times buy tall jackets, I bet the sleeves on this jacket will be too short for your liking.

SIze Max Chest Max Belly
Small 40 36
Medium 42 38
Large 45 41
XL 48 44
XXL 50 46
XXXL 52 48
XXXXL 54 50
XXXXXL 56 52

Our Two Cents

Prior to 2015 we haven’t carried Z1R leather gear. We looked it over years ago and passed because I thought it was a bit too cheap looking. But times have changed folks, and I’m looking at the line with new appreciation.

This black leather apparel line is now good stuff! The leather is thick but soft and has a nice finish to it. And the styling and fit are right on target for the cruiser rider. Cruiser gear styles have not ever been complicated, and this line isn’t either. The styling varies a bit from one style to the other, but you’ll find the basics here… quality black leather construction, a few creature comforts and of course dual gun pockets!

Take the “View Larger Images” link above to see some good close-ups of the specific features and also those gun pockets. There are actually two gun pockets and each one is lined with a heavy black canvas and also has a couple wide elastic straps to hold the hardware in place. The pockets close with a single snap.

The 9MM jacket is your basic Marlon Brando style. There are many slight variations on the theme of a jacket like this, but this one appears to be a classic. It has the slant zipper of heavy chrome, and matching chrome snaps on the four collar tips (snaps are important to keep them from flapping at highway speeds and driving you crazy)! Also, this one has the classic epaulets on the shoulders and the leather laces on the sides for waist/belly adjustment. Those laces will reduce the belly area about 2” per side, or about 4” total, so if you have a flat stomach you can tailor the fit.

For cooler weather, this jacket comes equipped with a removable full sleeve thermal liner to add a bit of insulation. There are no zippered vents or other venting features so consider this jacket as being good for cold to warm weather (but not hot weather).

Unlike most sport jackets, and in keeping with the cruiser style, this one does not have armor nor does it have provisions for adding it.

In addition to the interior gun pockets, this model has three good size zip close pockets in front and one small snap close pocket down by the waist (not sure what that is good for, but it seems to be part of any classically styled jacket like this).

Overall a really nice jacket and I think you’ll be pleased with the value and quality you see when you get it. :: Paul, 05-21-15
