Sizing Information

We found the fit of these vests to be essentially the same as the very-similar Tough as Nails vest, we’ll go with the same advice for choosing a size: Wear the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. If you are between sizes I’d advise you to go down. There isn’t a lot of taper from the chest to the waist, so there shouldn’t be concerns with fit if you have a bit of a belly. The large side leather adjustment straps can take up a lot of the slack, so those with a trim waist will look good too.

The chart provided by Speed and Strength shows chest sizes for each alpha size that are a bit larger than what you’d normally see for “standard” conversion from chest size to alpha size. Based on my observations (above), the chart seems just about right.

Size Small Medium Large XL 2XL 3XL
Chest 38-40 40-42 42-45 46-48 49-52 53-56

Our Two Cents

This Quick and the Dead vest is almost identical to the similar Tough as Nails vest, but with an outside gun holster and a couple conceal carry pockets on the inside belly area (view the T as N vest with the link below). The vest is a black leather “stripped” (without the logos) vest. And being stripped, these leather vests are made primarily for those who want to add club colors. The back of each vest is a blank palette so to speak, and cleverly, Speed and Strength has added a really neat feature to make the addition of your colors really easy. There is a large zipper that runs around the back protector, and when you unzip, you’ll have full access to the back side of the leather. Your tailor will LOVE YOU! (and probably charge you less too).

The overall quality of the vest is great. The leather is high quality and the side Velcro adjusters are well engineered, so not only do they look good, but they work well to fit the vest to your body.

Check out our close up pictures. You’ll see the inside two concealed carry pockets which are heavy stretch material fully open on the the top and partially open on the bottom (for the barrel). And there is a smaller pocket just alongside for ammo.

And then you can see the LARGE “Armed Response” open carry side holster. We’ve put in several pics to give you the idea. Of course people are particular about holsters and such and admittedly I’m not a “gun guy” so I can’t comment from experience, but the holster is a very heavy duty unit with a LOT of adjustability. Take note of the overall position though.. seems kind of high and pretty far to the side to be reachable with the opposite hand, but what do I know? Not much really. :: Paul, 02-01-16
