Sizing Information

This jacket style is “classic” and I would recommend a casual fit (not overly snug). We measured a selection of these jackets and found them to be smaller than expected by about one size. Therefore, for this jacket, I’d recommend buying one size larger than you normally wear.

I notice the arms of this jacket are more snug than others. Those with skinny arms will love thing one and those with average arms will be OK too, but if you have a stocky or muscular build, I don’t think you’ll like this one.

I put together the chart below to help you choose a size based upon your chest and belly measurements. The max chest sizes listed below are about 2” smaller than you’d expect to see in normally sized US clothing. The belly area of the jacket is not a lot smaller than the chest (typical for a standard street cut jacket). Just make sure the jacket you choose is large enough for both your chest and belly.

Jacket Size Max Chest Max Belly
Small 38 36
Medium 40 38
Large 42 40
XL 44 42
XXL 46 44
XXXL 49 47

Note: if you plan to add a back protector to this jacket, then add 1” to the chest/belly measurements before choosing a size.

Our Two Cents

The Carson leather jacket by Roland sands is a classically styled, low key leather jacket for those who want quality without flash.

The leather used in this jacket is buffalo. Its thick and very soft and has a very soft feeling finish. Its a matte finish too, which gives it a low key look. When this leather gets some use, it will quickly take on a vintage look in my opinion. And have a look at the interior shots of the jacket. You’ll see the use of raw leather and perforated leather on the trim and also a satin liner. There is a lot of extra detailed work here.

The thick leather will give great abrasion resistant capability to this jacket. The shoulders and elbow areas are reinforced with dense padding which you can see from the exterior. That padding adds a bit of thickness and also adds some style. The jacket also comes with provisions for the addition of protective armor. The armor is made by Forcefield and is nice stuff. The armor pieces themselves are a three ply arrangement which allows them to flex and mold to your body shape easily. Adding the armor makes this jacket as protective as the better sport/race jackets we sell. Many cruiser/retro styles we sell don’t have armor as standard so having the ability to add good armor is a big plus. Take the links below to purchase the armor pieces you want.

The Carson is a fair weather jacket. It is not vented, so it won’t work well for very hot weather, but should be fine for mild weather and if you layer underneath, will also do well in cold weather. :: Paul, 03-15-18
