Sizing Information

We measured a selection of these jackets and found them to fit normally with a comfortable “American” cut. For our review, we had a size Large in stock so we put that on our Fit Check mannequins Dewey and it fits, but it is snug, which is what I’d expect (view those shots by taking the View Larger Images link above).

These jackets are aimed at a cruiser crowd and don’t come with armor as standard, so they fit a littler larger than the average Joe Rocket jacket without the armor installed. With armor installed, they fit like other Joe Rocket styles. I’d recommend you choose the size jacket you normally wear in men’s clothing. You can use Joe Rocket’s sizing chart to choose if you know your chest size. If you plan to wear the jacket without armor and you are between sizes, I’d suggest choosing the smaller.

If you have a bit of a belly you can measure your belly with a tape to make sure the jacket size you choose will be big enough. The max belly size for each jacket is about 4 less than the chest size. For example, the men’s XL has a 46-48 inch chest and a max belly of about 44 inches.

Our Two Cents

The Powershift leather jacket by Joe Rocket is new for 2019. This jacket is a lighter weight leather to make it more manageable for use on or off the bike. The jacket comes without armor, which is pretty standard for cruiser style leather jackets, but you can add armor if you like.

The weight of this jacket is noticeably less than other Joe Rocket styles because it is made of leather which is thinner than “race” type leather. Those who want a stylish leather jacket for riding, but one that will work off the bike too, will really like this one. The styling reminds me of a “trucker” jacket with the plain banded waist and simple lines.

The jacket comes “armor ready”, which means it has pockets built into the liner to add armor inserts in the shoulders and elbows and back. As I mentioned in the sizing advice the jacket is sized so that it will fit “true” with armor in the jacket and is pretty roomy without the armor installed. I think most people will use this jacket without the armor because they want something casual and sharp that is lightweight a works well for casual use.

Being a solid leather style without venting, this jacket will work best in all seasons OTHER than the hot summer. For spring, fall and winter, this should work nicely. The jacket comes with a removable vest type liner to add a bit of insulation.

I really like the overall styling and the thinner leather here. And there are plenty of styling queues to make the jacket more interesting. I like it. :: Paul, 01-28-19
