We tried the size XL in this jacket on Dewey. This is the size he normally wears and it fit great. We also put a tape on the other sizes to double check them and they measure out OK as compared to Speed and Strength’s size chart.
The chart provided by Speed and Strength shows chest sizes for each alpha size that are a bit larger than what you’d normally see for “standard” conversion from chest size to alpha size and perhaps the jackets are cut a bit large, but given the casual style, I’d advise you to choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing.

Our Two Cents
The Stars and Stripes jacket is another of recent releases by Speed and Strength that have a more casual style to them, or maybe we could even call it “urban”. The shell of this jacket is sort of a “waxed cotton” feeling material. But the tag inside says “polyester/nylon” as the material. The poly/nylon is better than cotton because cotton doesn’t have much in the way of abrasion protection to offer. But anyway the overall “look” is of a well worn military type jacket. The jacket comes with a hoody to complete the look. If you take our “View Larger Images” link above, you’ll see that the hoody is just really a hood that attaches at the collar. And you can remove it if you like. Up close, the jacket has a lot of styling detail you’ll miss unless you look at the close-up pictures. I really like the small bits of leather trim on the pockets and at the cuff ends. Overall I think it is quite sharp and different. Otherwise, you’ll see the usual host of features that are specific to motorcycling such as removable armor and a back pad, adjustable waist, some storage pockets, etc. For climate control, the jacket has some zip vents in the bicep area and two large rear exhaust vents. And for cooler weather, the jacket comes with a removable vest-type insulated liner. When you view our close-up pics, you’ll see some that make the jacket look sort of brown or dark purple, but that is just a lighting issue with this material. The jacket is definitely black. :: Paul, 08-05-13
