Sizing Information

The chest sizes listed in the chart below are from Klim’s chart and I’ve double checked the actual jackets against the chart and it is accurate. But be careful… while the size Large is exactly what you’d expect with a 44” max chest, the smaller sizes are a bit smaller than normal and the bigger sizes are bigger than normal. For example, a men’s size Medium usually is styled with a 42” max chest and Klim’s medium is a 40” max chest. Same goes for larger sizes… an XXL is typically a 48” max chest, but Klim’s is a 52” max chest.

Given the variation from “normal” for smaller and larger sizes, I’d highly recommend you measure yourself and/or measure a jacket that fits you well (take the link below on how to do that). Then choose a jacket that is big enough for your chest. This jacket is sold without a removable liner, so if you anticipate wearing a thermal garment underneath, take your measurement over those undergarments. Belly sizes are generous, but if you have a belly, you’ll want to make sure the jacket size you choose will accommodate your belly size as well.

Overall sleeve and torso lengths are generous and will work for most average height or taller riders. Those of shorter stature may find the sleeve and torso lengths to be longer than ideal.

Jacket Size Max Chest Max Belly
Small 36” 35”
Medium 40” 39”
Large 44” 43”
XL 48” 46”
XXL 52” 50”
XXXL 56” 54”

Our Two Cents

The Klim Blade jacket is a great “every day” jacket for street riders and commuters, and even more serious riders who want just a bit “less” than Klim’s heavy duty products. I’m saying this one is “Latitude Lite” since the Latitude is fresh on my mind and since I described it as being VERY heavy duty.

But don’t get the idea the Blade is lesser in features or build quality. Even Klim’s “lite” version is still as heavy as most other’s textile jackets, and this one has mostly all the same features as the Latitude. It’s a solid textile shell with Gore-Tex as the waterproof material so its ability to keep you dry and comfy is about as good as it gets. Klim’s jackets aren’t supplied with thermal liners, but you can use their Inferno jacket underneath (see below), or your own undergarments, or even electrics, so being a solid textile, this one could be used in very cold weather… and wet weather of course. The jacket does have a couple bicep vents and a large rear exhaust vent, and those will help in warmer weather, but this isn’t a good choice for really hot weather. Get a mesh style for that.

This jacket, like most other Klim jackets, is fully fitted with D3O armor in the shoulders, elbows and back. The D3O is their standard. We’ve had a lot of experience with this armor and have nothing but good things to say about comfort etc. It is a product that is fully tested and rated to CE standards.

Even though this jacket has a “waist length” torso, there is still plenty of storage built in. Two hand pockets in front, two front chest pockets and four inside pockets too. Its storage capacity is comparable to many other longer style jackets. And there is the medical info pocket on the sleeve as well.

A few other very nice features I’ve noticed… there are elastic gather cords around the neck opening and around the waist to help you seal out cold or wet, and the sleeves have an extremely functional closure setup so you can wear the jacket sleeve inside gloves or over gloves too. And this jacket has LOTS of very effective reflective materials. Of Klim’s jackets, I’d probably choose this one myself since it is a bit lighter and shorter in the torso (and less money of course). Many ordinary street riders will find this one to be plenty enough jacket for them. :: Paul, 04-27-17
