Joe Rocket Steel Denim Jeans

Use the chart below to select a size based upon your waist and inseam. The actual measurements of the jeans (shown here) are very similar to the sizes marked on them except we find the inseams are about 1/2” shorter than the markings on the jeans.

Hmmmm. The name “Steel Jeans” is a bit of a reach in terms of describing the actual product here. What you DO get is a nice looking pair of denim jeans that has some pieces of abrasion resistant fabric added to the seat area and the knees. And the addition of the abrasion protection would almost certainly be an improvement over plain jeans. We’ve turned a pair inside-out for photographs so you can see the reinforcement pieces (take the View Larger Pictures link above). The material feels very similar to Kevlar weaves I’ve seen before and feels like it would do a good job in resisting abrasion. If you look closely, you’ll see tiny strands of metal woven in as well. Fortunately the “steel” side faces out so it won’t be against your skin—ouch! The way the jeans are sewn, a small piece of the “steel” fabric shows just below the beltline in the back which gives the pants a bit of style (the black piece in the photos). Does the steel thread do anything really? I doubt it… I think it’s more of a “look” and an advertising thing. Overall I think the jeans are a neat idea and worth the modest price and they’ll be ideal for those who won’t go the extra step to wear motorcycle specific pants. You’d feel comfortable wearing these jeans anywhere.
