Our Two Cents

The Women’s Ballistic 7.0 is a great 3/4 length textile jacket for the touring rider that will work in a wide range of weather conditions. The jacket is 100% waterproof (well, I guess we all know no jacket is really 100% waterproof). The outer shell is a water-resistant nylon and the jacket also has a traditional nylon mesh interior lining. Between those two layers is a waterproof mid-liner. Venting is always an issue with a waterproof design and with this jacket, Joe Rocket offers large front zippers that have waterproof rubber strips that cover the zipper when closed. As I mentioned above, nothing can be completely water tight, but this approach may come as close as any. The Ballistic 7.0 offers a great deal of climate control features. For warmer weather the jacket has sleeve vents and two large chest vents. The inner flaps of the two large chest vents can be snapped together holding them open in a manner that looks like it would be very effective (see our close-up pictures). The jacket comes with a full sleeve insulated liner that when installed should keep you warm in quite cold temperatures. You also get removable CE approved armor in the shoulders and elbows along with a backpad that can be upgraded to an optional CE approved back protector (see below). The jacket has some adjustments in the back that allow you to fine tune the fit through the mid-section. There is a zipper in the back of the jacket for attachment to Joe Rocket textile pants. The zipper also comes with the mating half that can be sewn into the pants of your choice. Take the “View Larger Pictures” link above to see some good closeups of this jacket and its features.
