Sizing Information

The overall fit of this jacket is very “standard”. We checked some sizes against Joe Rocket’s size chart and found the estimated chest sizes to be accurate. We also tried on a Medium and XL on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey and they look great (view those shots by taking the View Larger Images link above). Therefore, I recommend you choose the size jacket you normally wear in men’s clothing. You can use the chart to choose if you know your chest size. As compared to many other Joe Rocket styles, I find this jacket to fit a bit more trim, which is a welcome change. Joe Rocket products have mostly had a very generous fit, so a more trim style like this will be welcome. But because of the trim nature of the fit, if you are between sizes, I’d advise you to pick the larger.

If you have a bit of a belly you can measure your belly with a tape to make sure the jacket size you choose will be big enough. The max belly size for each jacket is about 6” less than the chest size. For example, the men’s XL has a 46-48 inch chest and a max belly of about 40 to 42 inches.

Our Two Cents

When I first picked up the samples of this new Ballistic Revolution jacket, I thought they seemed to be lighter than other standard 3/4 length touring styles I’ve looked at lately. And during shooting, I was reading the hang tags on the jacket and saw some info on the fabric used in the jacket. It is called Airguard and they claim it is between 20% and 53% lighter than other similar fabrics and they have microscopic pictures of the yarn, which is hollow. So that confirms I am actually sensing that the jacket IS lighter than other similar styles. With a full featured jacket like this with armor and a liner and such, a lighter weight is a bonus for comfort. The other thing I notice right away is that these jackets fit more trimly than previous Rocket jackets. They are more “European” in cut… the chest and waist are trimmer and the arms fit more closely. Not so much that it causes a fit-fail, but it is noticeable as compared to previous similar designs in their line. Personally I’m not thin, but the XL fits me fine and I like the way they fit. There is also quite a bit of fit adjustment on the jacket. There are a couple very functional side adjustment buckles on the sides of the waist (which unfortunately I had little use for :), and then there are some snap adjustments on the sleeves. The jacket is made waterproof by a waterproof lining in the jacket. This type of waterproofing is generally the best, but the flip side is that the cooling effect of the zippered vents is somewhat reduced because the air flow through the zippers doesn’t reach all the way through to your skin. So even though the jacket has very nice zippered venting provisions, I’d recommend the jacket for warm to cold weather conditions. I think the jacket would get a bit uncomfortable in hot weather. Speaking of cold weather, the jacket comes with a full sleeve thermal liner which should provide some good insulation. Like any other 3/4 style, this jacket has lots of pockets. We’ve taken some photos of each pocket set, so just take the “View Larger Images” link above to see those. Also in the photo gallery, you’ll see our “night shots”; the reflectives on this jacket perform quite well. Overall, I give this jacket the thumbs up for good fit, sharp looks, the new lighter weight fabric and of course the price. This jacket is a good value! :: Paul, 11-19-13

Man I love this Ballistic Revolution Jacket from Joe Rocket –grin! Not only is it lighter, and softer, but it certainly looks sharp (my girlfriend love it lol) plus all pockets including a huge right back side zipped one is spot on. Just remember it is not a mesh or hot weather jacket, even with their great and easy chest and back exhaust vents I’m not sure how good of a circulation I will have due to the sowed in waterproof liner.
