Sizing Information

Joe Rocket changed their sizing strategy with the 5.0 version. Instead of having the inseams increase incrementally with each larger waist size, they made them consistent for all waist sizes. This should make it a little easier to pick your size in these 5.0 pants. The range listed below is accurate assuming the pants would be worn only over underwear. If you plan to wear the pants over heavy clothing, then you’ll want to add an inch or two to your normal waist size and then make a selection. The side waist adjustments will help customize the fit for you too.

Size Waist Range Regular Inseam Length Tall Inseam Length Short Inseam Length
Small 29-31 31.5 33.5 29.5
Medium 31-33 31.5 33.5 29.5
Large 34-36 31.5 33.5 29.5
XL 36-38 31.5 33.5 29.5
XXL 38-40 31.5 33.5 29.5
XXXL 41-43 31.5 33.5 29.5
XXXXL 45-47 31.5
XXXXXL 51-52 31.5

Our Two Cents

This textile pant is made of a thick textile outer shell. The fabric used is a bit “softer” to the touch than previous models. It doesn’t feel quite so stiff and coarse as before. This helps with the looks, feel and fit of the pant. Also the overall cut is improved by having a slight “pre-curve” to the pant leg which will make the pants more comfortable with legs bent on the bike. Full length side zippers make this pant ideal for the commuter since you can wear them over your street clothes and step out of them without having to find a place to change pants. The inside liner is a waterproof material similar to what you would find in a rain suit and the liner is not removable. While this arrangement will be fantastic for those riding in wet and cool to cold weather, the pants will definitely be too warm for use in hot weather. For hot weather, we offer mesh pants such as the Phoenix or “convertible” pants such as the Alter Ego. Take the “View Larger Pictures” link above to have a look at some close-up pictures that highlight some of the pant’s features.
