Sizing Information

We measured and tried on a number of sizes in this jacket and found them to fit as expected. I’d encourage you to order the size you normally wear in men’s clothing for sizes Small through XL, and since there is limited standardization on fit above XL, I’d recommend those who wear larger sizes to measure their chest and belly and choose based on the chart I’ve put together below.

Those with large bellies will love this style. The proportions are generous through the lower torso… for each size, the belly is about 2” smaller than the chest, but on each side of the jacket are expansion zippers that go way up, almost to the armpit and when open will another 4” or so to the max belly! But also, there are side torso adjustment straps to snug down the mid-torso area for those with slimmer lines. VERY versatile!

Tall sizes are available too in the black color. If you normally have to buy tall clothing, you’ll want to choose a tall jacket which adds about 2” to the sleeve and torso for any given size.

Here is a chart we put together with approximate max chest and belly sizes for every “alpha” size. You can use this chart to choose a size based upon your chest and belly measurements.

Size Max Chest Max Belly Max Belly
(with side zips open)
Small 40 38 42
Medium 42 40 44
Large 44 42 46
XL 46 44 48
XXL 50 48 52
XXXL 54 52 56
XXXXL 58 56 60

Note: This chart mirrors Fly’s official size chart for sizes XL and above, but shows larger sizes than Fly’s chart for smaller sizes. Their chart for the smaller sizes is not accurate.

Our Two Cents

Wow, I’m impressed with the overall build quality and the great feature list with this jacket… especially for money! The overall build quality and materials are a notch above similarly priced jackets in my opinion. Also, I’m impressed with how the jacket is SO flexible for sizing. The chest and arms are much like any other brands fit, but the torso is highly adjustable to fit all sorts of body types, and the side torso zippers allow a good fit for those who have a pretty good size belly!

The overall style here is like a mix between a waist length jacket and a 3/4 touring style. Its a bit shorter than a 3/4 in the front but longer in the back, like an Adventure style really. But even with a slightly shorter front, they’ve managed to give tons of storage…. a total of six pockets on the front and one large fanny pack in back.

This is a solid textile style and it will perform as a waterproof shell with a build in rain liner, but it also has tons of zippered venting. The vents open up and allow air to pass all the way into the interior of the jacket, so even though this jacket has the built in rain barrier behind the shell, there is air passage behind the vents. And to keep water out, the vent zips are waterproof construction. This setup will give max climate flexibility. Disclaimer: I would speculate that a jacket with these large vents, even though waterproof won’t be entirely waterproof, so if your needs call for bulletproof waterproofing capabilities, you might want to get something with a bonded waterproof liner, or perhaps a Gore-Tex design.

So when the weather turns cold, you’ll also like this style because it has a removable thermal liner, and with the size adjustability (as mentioned above) , you’ll be able to layer more under-layers and temps require.

I’d encourage you to check our photo gallery to check out all the fine details like the location of pockets, size adjusters and the like. Overall, this is a very impressive jacket! :: Paul, 08-29-17
