Sizing Information

We did a size check using our Fit Test mannequins Huey and Dewey and found them to fit very well. We put a Medium on Huey and an XL on Dewey. We have some shots of the two jackets on our Fit Test mannequins and you can see how the jackets fit on them by taking the “View Larger Images” link above.

The jackets are sold in regular men’s “alpha” sizes, and I came up with a brief chart to show you our estimates of max chest and belly sizes for each. The overall cut is very neutral… neither trim nor roomy, so choose the size you normally wear or pick based on your own chest and belly mesurements.

Size Max Chest Max Belly
Medium 42 40
Large 44 41
XL 46 42
XXL 48 44
XXXL 50 46

Our Two Cents

This new Strike Soft Shell Jacket is something very different than what I usually see. It might not look different, but it feels quite different than your average textile style. First of all, the overall styling is VERY sedate… plain black or plain blue with nearly no badging. And the fabric is “soft” to the touch, much like what you expect to find in a causal/athletic jacket for everyday wear—-sort of like a light weight neoprene. Anyway, the fabric is comfortable and does not appear to wrinkle which gives it a nice “dress” look. I can picture somebody who rides to work in an urban environment liking this style because it has some protection, but looks like a sharp fall/spring jacket you might wear with nice jeans or slacks. I definitely don’t get a grunge or technical vibe.

The protective components of the jacket are very much like all other AGV Sport jackets… removable protectors in the shoulders and elbows and a removable foam back pad. There are two upgrade back pads available for the jacket. In a lightweight style jacket like this, I’d recommend the Super Lite version as not to be too heavy or stiff. While I think the fabric would be somewhat less abrasion resistant than the typical nylon textile jacket, there are leather overlays on the shoulders and elbows to add just a bit more reinforcement in those crash prone areas.

This jacket has a built in waterproof liner between the outer shell and the inner mesh lining. It will be handy for those occasional showers that may come your way. The jacket is not specifically vented, so I’d recommend this style for cool to warm weather, but not hot weather. And if you layer underneath with your own thermal clothing, it would be good for cold weather as the rain barrier will also be a wind barrier.

Overall, I really like this style because I think it is sharp and would be light and easy to wear, and if you will be running around town and going places, the looks are very “normal” so you won’t feel “out of place” going anywhere. :: Paul, 05-03-16
