Sizing Information

We tried on the Torino jackets in a size Medium and XL on our Fit Test Mannequins. Both jackets fit well and since there is an effective adjuster at the waist, we were able to tailor the fit easily. Based on the fit on our Fit Test and also my measurements, I’d advise you to buy the size you normally buy in men’s clothing. If you are sometimes between sizes, then I’d advise you to choose the smaller.

Below is AGV’s “official” current size chart for textile and mesh styles. As you can see from the chart below, the chest sizes indicated for each “alpha” size are quite large as compared to “normal” men’s sizing. I don’t think this jacket fits as large as their chart indicates, but I list it only for your reference. The actual “max chest” for any of the sizes is about 2” less than the chart would indicate.

Size Chest (inches) Sleeve (inches)
Small 42 – 43 24.5
Medium 44 – 45 25
Large 46 – 47 25.5
XL 48 – 49 26
XXL 50 – 51 26.5
XXXL 52 – 53 27

Our Two Cents

Bummer. I was all set to like this new jacket because I really liked the new Torino and Navigator jackets by AGV Sport released at the same time as this one. I would tell you about all the nice things I see, many very similar to what I saw with the Navigator jacket (actually this seems a shorter/sport version of the Navigator), but there is one fatal flaw with this style we can’t overlook: The main zipper is a standard YKK plastic teeth zipper which is very usual for a bike jacket like this, but there is no double closure in front of or behind the zipper to keep water from coming through. With the size Medium test jacket, there is a full length placket behind the zipper, about 1” wide, which wouldn’t keep water from coming through but it would be better than nothing at all, but oddly, on the XL jacket there is no placket at all?? This jacket is constructed with a waterproof mid-liner which is great for keeping water from coming through elsewhere, but without waterproof construction in front, it will be useless… in fact worse than useless because one trade off to a waterproof liner is that it somewhat impedes cooling air flow through the exterior vents. Had this been a “standard” non-waterproof-liner jacket, it would be great, but with the main zipper design flaw, I’m afraid it’s a bust. :: Paul, 06-26-14 (more about less-than-favorable reviews)
