Speed and Strength Top Dead Center Leather Jacket

We tried the size Medium in this jacket on Huey and we put an XL jacket on Dewey. These are the sizes they normally wear and both fit great. The jackets are roomy. My primary advice would be to wear the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. If you are between sizes I’d advise you to go down.

The chart provided by Speed and Strength shows chest sizes for each alpha size that are a bit larger than what you’d normally see for “standard” conversions from chest size to alpha size. Based on my observations (above), the chart seems just about right.

The Top Dead center textile jacket and the Top Dead Center Leather jacket (shown here) for 2013/14 offer unique styling. Be sure and take the View Larger Images link above and have a look at the back shot. Unusual for sure. Otherwise, this jacket is a sharp combination of perf leather and textile. All those perfs will allow the air to blow right through and no thermal liner or wind liner is included. You can layer with your own underwear for mild or cool weather, but this jacket is primarily made for warm or hot conditions. Years ago, Joe Rocket made a leather/tex jacket called the Reactor, which I always really liked because I like the look and feel of leather, but a full-on race weight leather jacket is heavy and not well suited for the warmer climate I live in, but this jacket, being mostly perf and part textile is airy and light and will be great all summer. I can’t tell you that the leather would be HIGHLY abrasion resistant in a crash because the leather is thinnish and fully perfed and the perfs will take away some of the strength. Better than mesh? Probably, so comparing it to other summer alternatives, it will be good. For me, the styling, looks and warm weather comfort are the key things with this style. :: Paul, 12-19-13
