Icon Overlord Prime Jacket

The jackets run fairly standard so you can use previous experience in buying motorcycle jackets or street clothing. If you want to double check sizing using a tape measure, refer to the chart below. Icon calls this jacket their “Attack” fit, which is designed to be worn in the riding position. It’s not quite as aggressive as some other brands, but the sleeves are rotated forward and pre-curved for the riding position and the jacket does taper down some towards the waist. Take note of the max belly sizes listed below (they aren’t as extreme as some other brands, so if you have a bit of a belly you should be ok).

Icon has produced a very nice jacket with the Overlord Prime. The main difference between the Overlord and the Overlord Prime is the external molded armor. Not only is there CE approved armor in the shoulders and elbows and a dual density foam back pad inside the jacket, there are also molded armor pieces on the upper back, shoulders, and elbows. This external armor is integrated into the jacket very nicely, and should do a good job of providing some additional impact and abrasion protection. For even more protection, the Stryker CE back protector is an available upgrade (see below). The Overlord Prime has a sporty fit, with pre-curved arms that are rotated forward for the riding position. It’s also a very comfortable jacket though. The stretch panels behind the elbows and shoulders really help keep things flexible, and the inner arms are made with a stretch material that doesn’t bunch up. The Overlord Prime uses 1.2 – 1.4mm leather which is nice and thick, and should do a great job holding up over time as well as in a crash. The Overlord should work very well in a variety of climates, except for maybe the coldest temperatures. There are mesh intake vents at the shoulders, and the center of the torso is perforated in the front and back. The sides of the upper arms and torso are also perforated, and there are Icon logos creatively perforated into the forearms. For cooler months, a vest type insulated liner is included as well.
