Sizing Information

In our Fit Check photos (you can view those by taking the “View Larger Images” link above), we have Huey in a size 42 and Dewey in a 46 and they both fit very well. You can choose a size based upon your chest size and waist size. These are sport cut jackets and have a taper from chest to waist, so you’ll want to also measure your belly (unless it is flat). The max belly on any given jacket is about 6” less than the chest size. Example: Dewey has a 45 measured chest and ideally wears a 46 (or XL) jacket and wears 38” Levis; he measures 37” inches in the waist. He has a flat belly made of plaster, so he doesn’t have an issue with belly size, but for those that may, they’d want to make sure their belly isn’t bigger than about 40” in order to wear a 46 comfortably (46 chest minus 6” for taper).

Size Chest (inches) Waist (inches) Sleeve (inches)
40 40 – 41 30 – 32 24.5
42 42 – 43 32 – 34 25
44 44 – 45 34 – 36 25.5
46 45 – 47 36 – 38.5 25.5
48 47 – 48.5 38.5 – 41 26
50 49 – 50 40 – 43 26.5

Our Two Cents

The Canyon Perforated Leather Jacket is what I would call an “any man’s jacket”. The style is neither super sport or cruiser. It is a good blend of styles that will work for most any street rider. The finish of the leather in the factory pictures looks like normal satin finish black cowhide, but take a look at our studio pictures and you’ll see that it is more of a matte black finish (click the “View Larger Images” link above to see). The matte black has become very popular in the last few years. I’m only guessing, but I think many people feel more comfortable with the matte finish because it blends in better in all situations off the bike as well as on and perhaps it doesn’t scream “motorcycle” quite as much as traditional slick black leather. As far as technical features go, this jacket has a typical list such as CE armor in the shoulders and elbows along with a foam back pad; exterior hand-warmer pockets and a couple patch pockets in the inside as well and there is a short rear zipper you can use to attach the jacket to AGV textile or leather pants. The name of this jacket includes the word “perforated”, but I’m not sure I’d make a major point of that. There are some leather panels on the front and rear of the torso and also under the arm that are perforated, but they’d only comprise maybe 15% of the shell… the rest of which is solid leather. There are a couple zippered vents on the front chest and a couple on the back too. These vents will allow you to adjust the airflow to some degree. But even still, a black leather style like this will work best only up to “warm” temps. It does include a removable thermal vest liner which will help block air flow through the vents and provide a bit of insulation. I’d say the lower range for comfort would be “cool” weather. For cold weather, you’ll need some layering either over or under the jacket. Overall, this is a very nice style that almost anybody could enjoy both on the bike and off. :: Paul, 05-07-12

Finally a Jacket that fits. I have fairly long arms and have trouble finding riding jackets that fit. This one fits me great. (Read more...)
