Sizing Information

We checked the fit on these jackets with a tape and also with our Fit Check mannequins and find that they run consistently one size larger across the board than what is shown in Tour Masters’ size chart. Therefore, we advise you to buy one size smaller than you normally would. For example if you are usually an XL in men’s shirts and wear a 46 suit coat, then you should order a size Large in this jacket. The overall cut of this jacket is ideal for street and touring riding. It is more relaxed through the torso and not as “forward leaning” as a sport bike/race jacket. Generally speaking, those with average to stout builds will like this cut, where it won’t be the ideal cut for a person who is tall/skinny.

Here is Tour Master’s published size chart. Sleeve lengths are measured from the shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve cuff.

Alpha Size Chest Size Sleeve Length
Small 40 26
Medium 42 26.5
Large 44 27
XL 46 27.5
XXL 48 28
XXXL 50 28

Our Two Cents

There is a school of thought that the best approach to having protection for all seasons is to buy two jackets. For example, depending upon climate, you could buy a solid textile or leather jacket for cooler months and a mesh jacket for summer months. And others prefer the idea of having one jacket that will “do it all”. You might think I’d be in the “buy two jackets” camp just because I’d like to sell more jackets, but actually I’m in that camp because it just works better. The Draft Air 2 is a great choice for those that want a jacket that will keep them protected and comfortable in the hot summer months. It includes just the basics for that function and no more. And therefore the price is very reasonable. In past years, this jacket was even a bit cheaper, but the previous model didn’t include a removable wind/waterproof liner. As I said, I’m in the two jacket camp, but having a liner extends the functionality of this primarily summer jacket just enough for convenience. You’ll use it in the occasional shower, or maybe on cool mornings. It will keep you from having to pack another jacket in transitional weather. Anyway, for an additional 20 bucks or so, I say they are worth it. Otherwise, the jacket has the usual features… fit adjustment, CE armor, storage pockets, etc. Like most other styles, this one also has some reflective piping for night time visibility. And Tour Master’s reflectives generally work well. We have some night shots in our photo gallery which you can see by clicking the “View Larger Images” link above. Overall, I give this jacket a thumbs up for affordability and being the basic full mesh summer jacket. :: Paul, 06-08-12
