Sizing Information

We tried the size Medium in this jacket on Huey and we put an XL jacket on Dewey. These are the sizes they normally wear and both fit great. The jackets are roomy. My primary advice would be to wear the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. If you are between sizes I’d advise you to go down. If you like a more snug “European” fit, then you’ll probably want to go one size down.

The chart provided by Speed and Strength shows chest sizes for each alpha size that are a bit larger than what you’d normally see for “standard” conversions from chest size to alpha size. Based on my observations (above), the chart seems just about right.

Portions of the shell of this jacket are stretchy and the waist has VERY effective waist adjusters. And the taper of the jacket is “relaxed”. There is only about a 4” drop from max chest to max belly for each size (Example: An XL has a max chest of 48” and max belly is about 44”). For these reasons, this jacket should be a really easy fit for most people.

Size Small Medium Large XL 2XL 3XL
Chest 38-40 40-42 42-45 46-48 49-52 53-56
Sleeve 33 34 35 1/2 36 1/2 37 37 1/2

Our Two Cents

I’m a fan of this new “the Power and the Glory” jacket… uh, er except the goofy name, which, by the way, is one in a long line of goofy naming practices which Speed and Strength seems to have universally adopted. But ANYWAY…. I’m not usually much of a fan of jackets that incorporate stretch shell materials, but this jacket combines the stretchy fabric with the mesh material and it makes for a really comfortably fitting jacket.

The overall fit is really easy (as described above), but having the stretch material incorporated into the shell makes this jacket even more comfortable. And when you wear the jacket, there are no “swishy” noises that you sometimes notice with jackets that use the traditional Cordura (not stretchy) materials.

Being part mesh, this jacket of course is geared toward hot weather use, so you will find good comfort from mild to hot temps. And in cooler weather, you can use your own shirts, vests, etc to suit the conditions. The jacket does not come with any sort of removable liners.

This jacket has the usual armor setup—CE armor in the shoulders and elbows and a foam back pad. And it has some nice loops to attach to the belt of any pair of pants. There are four of them too, so that should keep the jacket from riding up at higher speeds.

Overall, I really like this style and probably would choose one for myself. :: Paul, 01-27-16
