Sizing Information

We tried the size Medium in this jacket on Huey and we put an XL jacket on Dewey. These are the sizes they normally wear and both fit great. My advice would be to wear the size you normally wear in men’s clothing.

If you look at Icon’s chest size estimates for each jacket, you might be choosing a size larger than you normally wear (example a person with a 46 chest typically is an XL, but using Icon’s chart you’d buy an XXL).

My personal advice for a good fit that is snug enough not to flap or inflate while riding would be to buy the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. We’ve added a column to the table below to give you our estimate of max chest and belly size for each jacket size.

The styling of this jacket is “relaxed” as compared to other motorcycle jackets and the taper from chest to waist is minimal, and therefore belly size won’t be a problem for most. But if you have a bit of a belly, you’ll want to get a measurement and make sure to choose a jacket large enough to work.

Size Icon’s Chest Est Our Max Chest Our Max Belly
Small 36-38 38-40 36
Medium 38-40 40-42 38
Large 40-42 42-44 40
XL 42-44 44-46 42
XXL 46-48 48-50 46
XXXL 48-50 50-52 48
XXXXL 52-54 54-56 52

Our Two Cents

The Anthem 2 jacket is a full mesh design for use in hot weather. The entire shell uses flow-thru type material, so it should work great when things warm up. If you look at the photos, you’ll see parts of the jacket are obviously mesh, but other parts look more like a solid textile, but really it is just a tighter weave fabric, but it’s still mesh. I think the use of different weave materials is more or less a styling thing, but rest assured, you can consider this a full mesh style. The jacket includes a removable full-sleeve thermal liner to help give some insulation in cooler temps, and the use of the liner will make the jacket useful in cooler (but not cold) weather.

For protection, you get the usual package from Icon… the D3O protectors all around. These are very popular and are a high quality product. They bend easily and are very comfortable to wear. But they are made of a special material that will instantaneously become very rigid upon impact and therefore makes for a good impact protector. (Visit our D3O armor pages for more info). In addition to the armor, the shell has solid textile panels on the shoulders and elbows for some additional abrasion resistance.

There are a couple styling features that I liked and are unique… there are a couple neoprene panels on the undersides of the wrists that are sharp and comfy, and the collar is made out of a similar material. Also, under each arm, there are some large flex material panels that make the jacket super easy to move around in and will help make this jacket comfortable to wear on or off the bike.

A couple years ago, I knocked the original Anthem as being a bit “unstructured”, but I like this jacket a lot more. It feels like it would hold up well if tested, and I like how it doesn’t look like a lot of other summer mesh jackets. Overall a nice jacket that would be easy to enjoy. :: Paul, 04-15-15
