Sizing Information

These jackets are sold in US based “alpha” sizes, so selecting a size is basically pretty easy. For most people, you would choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. Alpinestars publishes a super-complicated size chart which can be used to pick a size based upon your chest and waist. We’ve condensed their chart down to make it easy to read (see below). The waist and upper arms are adjustable with Velcro tabs. Overall this should be a very easy style to fit.

Jacket Size Chest Range Waist/Belly Range
Small 37.5 to 39 31 to 32.5
Medium 40 to 41.5 33.5 to 35
Large 42 to 43.5 36 to 37.5
XL 44.5 to 46 38 to 40
XXL 47 to 49 40.5 to 42
XXXL 49 to 51 43 to 44.5
XXXXL 51.5 to 53 45 to 47

Our Two Cents

Here is a jacket that gives you comfort in hot weather, sharp styling, simple construction and better-than-average crash protection. This T-GP Plus R Air jacket (alphabet soup I know, ugh) is made of a combination of textile and mesh, but there is plenty of the mesh used to allow a lot of air flow and therefore we are going to call this a summer/mesh style. You can see the areas of mesh if you take the “View Larger Images” above. And even though the jacket is not a full-mesh design, I think it will work very well in the hottest weather because the solid textile areas are pretty lightweight material as well. I really like the new colors… and I’m a fan of hi-viz so there is a good pic there as well. Alpinestars gives you more protection options than any other maker of sport jackets (that we sell anyway), which is a bit unusual in a lightweight summer style like this, so if protection is a priority, you’ll like these features. The jacket comes with removable protectors in the shoulders and elbows and has some thin pads positioned in the chest and in the back area. Those chest pads and the back pad can be upgraded though if you want more (see below). There is also a long zipper for connection to Alpinestars pants (another feature you don’t usually see on a mesh style). Oh, and one other feature not found in previous versions of this style is a waterproof chest pocket, which might come in handy if you get caught in the rain with a wallet/cell phone. Like other Alpinestars products, the overall quality is top notch and the tailoring looks expensive (typically you get what you pay for). I think this jacket will be one of the ones you always grab first when the weather heats up. :: Paul, 02-25-14
