Speed and Strength Straight Savage Jacket

We measured each jacket size and tried the size Medium in this jacket on Huey. This is the size he normally wears and it fit very well.

This Speed and Strength jacket is an “easy fit” and is generously sized. My primary advice would be to wear the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. If you are between sizes I’d advise you to go down.

If you want to double check your sizing by measuring your chest, you can use the chart below to choose a size. The Max Chest sizes listed by Speed and Strength are a bit bigger than many manufacturer’s conversion charts, and that confirms our suggestion that people who are between sizes should choose the smaller.

If you have a bit of a belly, you might want to put a tape around it and make sure the size you are choosing will work for the belly as well. The max belly sizes for any jacket size will be about 2” smaller than the max chest listed. For example, the size XL will handle up to a max 48” chest and a max 46” belly.

I’d encourage you to look at our own studio pictures of this new Straight Savage jacket by Speed and Strength. When I first saw the “factory photos”, I thought it was a little strange looking, but in person it is a really nice style I think. Rather than giving you a removable thermal liner, this one comes with a traditional cotton hoody. The hoody zips in much like any other thermal liner, but if you want to disengage it from the jacket shell, it will zip up just like any other hoody and you can wear it separately. But zipped in, it will function as a thermal liner and give the look of wearing a jacket over a hoody. Of all the jackets I’ve seen of this style, the way this one is installed and has the dual function use, I think is a pretty clever setup.

The shell of the jacket is a “waxed cotton”. I think rather than real waxed cotton, which is actually waxy, this one is made of a cotton blend made to look a bit more shiny like waxed cotton. I say all this so you don’t get the idea that the jacket is actually waterproof or even resistant like real waxed cotton would be. The overall look is sharp and I really like the leather trim around the zippers and the collar. Parts of the sleeves are also leather which will make this jacket a lot more abrasion resistant than a plain cotton canvas jacket.

This jacket should be very comfortable in cool to warm temps. The sleeves and body, being cotton canvas, will breathe well and when it cools off, the addition of the hoody will provide some warmth… all the way down the sleeves too.

The jacket includes a set of armor all around… shoulders, elbows and back. The storage is pretty good… two good sized hand warmer pockets, two outside chest pockets, and you also get a holder for your gun and an extra clip (see the pics). One small rub with the gun holder… you won’t have quick access with the hoody zipped in, but if you wear the hoody zipped to itself under the jacket, then you’ll be able to get to the gun holder just by reaching through the main zipper.

Like I said, in person, I really like this style and it feels heavy and of good build quality. It’s a very unique style that will work for just about any street rider. :: Paul, 08-03-17
