Sizing Information

We measured each jacket size and tried the size Medium in this jacket on Huey. This is the size he normally wears and it fit very well.

This Speed and Strength jacket is an “easy fit” and is generously sized. My primary advice would be to wear the size you normally wear in men’s clothing. If you are between sizes I’d advise you to go down.

If you want to double check your sizing by measuring your chest, you can use the chart below to choose a size. The Max Chest sizes listed by Speed and Strength are a bit bigger than many manufacturer’s conversion charts, and that confirms our suggestion that people who are between sizes should choose the smaller.

Size Small Medium Large XL 2XL 3XL
Max Chest 38-40 40-42 42-44 46-48 50-52 54-56
Sleeve 32 33 34 35 36 36 1/2

If you have a bit of a belly, you might want to put a tape around it and make sure the size you are choosing will work for the belly as well. The max belly sizes for any jacket size will be about 2” smaller than the max chest listed. For example, the size XL will handle up to a max 48” chest and a max 46” belly.

Our Two Cents

This new Ground and Pound jacket has styling that is a nice upgrade to previous leather and denim jackets from Speed and Strength. I’ve reviewed a few in past seasons that were essentially a leather torso with denim sleeves, and this jacket is much like that, but is put together so that it looks like it is a leather vest OVER a denim jacket. That styling comes mostly by how the sleeves are attached to the body of the jacket. Take the “View Larger Images” link above to see what I’m talking about. I also like the way they incorporate an “action back” on the back sides of the sleeves where they connect to the shoulders of the jacket. Not only does it help with the vest-over-jacket look, but it gives good freedom of motion for reaching forward to the handlebars.

This jacket should be very comfortable in mild to hot temps. The sleeves, being denim, will breathe well and the leather portions are heavily perforated (looks sharp too), so air should flow well and keep you cool.

The jacket includes a set of armor all around… shoulders, elbows and back. The storage is adequate… two good sized hand warmer pockets and a zippered chest pocket. Last but not least you get a holder for your gun and an extra clip (see the pics). Overall, a really nice cruiser style with a lot of nice features that looks great! :: Paul, 08-03-17
