Sizing Information

We measured the size run in this style jacket, and found the chest and waist sizes to match up to the size chart provided by Black Brand (see below). Most people will be able to choose the size they normally wear in men’s clothing, but I’d recommend you throw a tape around yourself and check your chest and belly and make sure that the size you choose will be big enough for both.

The overall height of the jackets is normal and the overall cut is normal to relaxed. Most people shouldn’t have trouble finding a good fit.

Jacket Size Max Chest Max Belly
Medium 40” 36”
Large 44” 40”
XL 48” 44”
XXL 52” 48”
XXXL 56” 52”

Our Two Cents

Black Brand is new for us, but really not so new as the similarities to the River Road brand are pretty glaringly apparent (see my comments below about the brand in general). I’ve got three models on my desk here which are all functionally the same, but have a bit different style. I’ll tell you about the jackets as a group and then let our pictures speak to the styling differences… the styles are: Compression, Cutthroat and Two Lane.

These new styles from Black Brand are great for cruiser riders and every day street riders that want a jacket to provide some basic protection for the road, but that also are stylish and workable for wear off the bike as well. Each of these styles has two zip vents on the front (either chest or bicep vents) and each has rear exhaust vents. Those will move some air in warmer weather and you could also inch down the main zipper to get some more intake. The venting will help some in warmer temps. And for cooler weather, you can close those zippers and utilize the removable full-sleeve thermal liner. The liner is “mid weight” and should provide good insulation and then of course you can layer with other clothing from there. Generally speaking, I’d recommend these styles for cold weather (if you bundle up) to warm weather, but not hot weather.

With each of these styles, you get the usual storage pockets most motorcyclists like… hand warmer pockets, a wallet pocket inside and a couple upper chest pockets. The jacket does not come with armor, nor are there any provisions for adding it.

The thing I like most about these jackets is the look and styling of the leather. All three styles have been expertly “aged” to make them look like they’ve been a favorite jacket for many years. And they are soft and comfortable too. Just take the link above to see some good close-up photos of the jacket and the features. :: Paul, 04-05-16

About the new Black Brand gear: This line of gear was introduced in 2016. The gear is moderately priced, and is very good overall quality. It comes from the same folks that produce River Road which is a line of cruiser gear that has been around for MANY years. We’ve carried River Road for at least 10 years and we like it. From what I can tell, the Black Brand is more or less a “re-branding” of that line. You can buy these products with confidence with regard to quality and service after the sale.
