Shoei Center Crown Pads for Z-II Helmets

  • Riders will sometimes need to change the crown pads that come installed in their helmets. Some people need a little more or less space, while others simply need to install a fresh set of pads for better comfort (and smell).
  • The pads both come out and can be installed quite easily. Simply slide the pad into the shell and snap the closures into place.
  • Use the chart below to figure out what size crown pad you currently have based on your helmet size, and then pick a replacement set based on your need.

Sizing Information

Helmet Size Crown Pad Size

Small M13
Medium M9
Large L9
XL XL9
XXL XL5

Changing crown pads to change the helmet fit: The Crown Pad Size listed above tells you the physical size of the pad and also the thickness. The letters tell you the overall size of the pad and the numbers tell you the thickness. For example, a size Small helmet comes with a M13 crown pad. This is a Medium pad with a thickness of 13 (a Shoei thickness designation). You can change the fit of your helmet if more than one thickness of crown pad is offered in the same pad size. To get a tighter fit, you’d choose a thicker pad. To get a more loose fit, choose a thinner pad. Example: if you have an XL helmet that is too tight, you could buy an XL5 pad that would effectively make the helmet fit like a XXL helmet. On the other hand if you own a size Large helmet, you don’t have any options for changing fit since there is only one thickness of an “L” size crown pad offered.
