HJC Cheek Pads for Sy-Max III Helmets

  • Riders will sometimes need to change the cheek pads that come installed in their helmets. Some people need a little more or less space, while others simply need to install a fresh set of pads for better comfort (and smell)
  • The pads both come out and can be installed quite easily. Simply slide the pad into the shell and snap the closures into place
  • Use the chart below to figure out what size cheek pad you currently have based on your helmet size, and then pick a replacement set based on your need

Sizing Information

Use this table to determine what cheek pad size you currently have (the one that came in your helmet):

Helmet Size Cheek Pad Size EPS Size
XS 37mm Medium
Small 32mm Medium
Medium 27mm Medium
Large 30mm Large
XL 25mm Large
XXL 20mm Large

You can buy the same thickness of cheek pad if you like the fit of your helmet and just need a replacement set. Or you can buy a different thickness cheek pad to adjust fit as long as you buy a pad to fit the same EPS size. The cheek pads for the XS, Small and Medium helmets are interchangeable since those three sizes share the medium EPS liner size. Likewise, the cheek pads for the Large, XL and XXL helmets are interchangeable since they all share the Large EPS liner size.

Changing cheek pads to change the helmet fit: To get MORE room in your helmet, you need to buy a THINNER cheek pad. To get a TIGHTER fit, you need to buy a THICKER cheek pad. Example: If you have a size Large Sy-Max III helmet, you have cheek pads that are 30mm thick. If the helmet is too tight on you, a 25mm pad would give you more room.

Please note: In July through August of 2012, HJC made a change to the cheek pads and liners. At that point and from then on, all cheek pads and liners were manufactured with a red snap attachment system. If your Sy-Max III helmet has cheek pads with a white snap, you have one of the earlier models; if the snaps are red you have one of the later models. Take a look inside your helmet before ordering replacement pads; the drop down menu above has them clearly designated by snap color. The cheek pads with a white snap have been discontinued; once we’ve sold out of the stock we have there will be no more (and at that point they will no longer appear in our drop down menu).
