HJC Cheek Pads for CL-SP and ZXSP Helmets
- Riders will sometimes need to change the cheek pads that come installed in their helmets. Some people need a little more or less space, while others simply need to install a fresh set of pads for better comfort (and smell).
- The pads both come out and can be installed quite easily. Simply snap the three closures into place. Use the chart below to figure out what size cheek pad you currently have based on your helmet size, and then pick a replacement set based on your need.

Ok folks, the cheek pad situation for this product is a bit tricky. Some time during 2008, HJC changed the cheek pad design of this helmet. The “original” style pads were sort of flat shaped and then they changed to a “contoured” pad. The contoured pads are a bit thicker around the outer perimeter, but thinner around the ear… sort of a concave shape. If you look at the chart below, you’ll see that the contoured pads are listed as being thicker, but since they are a concave shape, the overall fit of the old vs. new is not that different. The installation points of the old vs. new are the same, so it is possible to put the new contoured pads in a helmet that came with the original style. The best way to tell which style your helmet came with is to pop out the cheek pad and see what thickness is shown (look for a small white sticker on the back side of the pad). Then use the chart below to figure it out.
Use this table to determine what cheek pad size you currently have:

You can buy the same thickness of cheek pad if you like the fit of your helmet and just need a replacement set. Or you can buy a different thickness cheek pad to adjust fit as long as you buy a pad to fit the same shell size. The cheek pads for the XXS, XS, Small and Medium helmets are interchangeable since those three sizes share the small helmet shell size. Likewise, the cheek pads for the Large, XL and XXL helmets are interchangeable since they all share an XL shell size. The only helmet size that you cannot buy a different thickness cheek pad for is the XXXL. Note: The XXS and XS share the same shell size and cheek pad size. The difference in sizing is done with the crown padding (in case you were wondering).
Changing cheek pads to change the helmet fit: To get MORE room in your helmet, you need to buy a THINNER cheek pad. To get a TIGHTER fit, you need to buy a THICKER cheek pad. Example: If you have a size Large CL-SP helmet, you have cheek pads that are 25mm thick. If the helmet is too tight on you, a 20mm pad would give you more room.
