Scorpions latest and greatest addition to the modular helmet world is the EXO-900X Transformer helmet. Like its predecessor the EXO-900 Transformer, it gets the name Transformer from the removable chin bar. Having the option to remove the chin bar gives you the ability to transform the helmet from a full face to a 3/4 helmet. With this new version Scorpion did some pretty cool updates. The biggest change in my opinion is to the shell shape of the helmet. The original 900 has more of a rounded shell shape and the aerodynamics seem to work better for a more upright riding position. The 900X has a more aggressive feel and shape to it. The 900X is slightly narrow or what some people call an intermediate oval. When you look at the helmet you can see it would be a good choice for a rider in a more leaned forward position. One thing that really stood out to me when I put it on was how well it sealed up around my jaw line. I have a pretty narrow face, so if you have a real wide jaw I would not recommend this helmet for you. My head measures out to 22 inches or 56 cm exactly. The size medium was a perfect fit. The helmet comes with the AirFit® liner inflation system that allows you to really fine tune the fit of the helmet. Scorpion also redesigned the venting for the 900X. The vent on the chin bar scoops air into the helmet then channels it up and across the inside of the visor. The helmet already comes with a fog free Everclear shield, but the air moving across the inside of that visor prevents moisture and condensation from building up. This will also help pull heat away from your face and move it up and out through the channeling in the ESP liner. The upper front vent is centered at the top of the helmet. It is a nice big vent with wide openings. The design of the cutouts for the vents is done so no matter what riding position you are in you will still get plenty of air flowing into the helmet. With all this air flowing into the helmet it has to go somewhere right? Well Scorpion put in exhaust vents at the rear of the helmet located beneath the spoiler. The spoiler creates an area of lower air pressure in front of the exhaust vents which draws air out of the back of the helmet. All of this added with the wide channels in the EPS gives you really good air flow through the helmet. :: Aaron, 08-015-14
