Our Two Cents

The first thing I noticed when I tried on the N104 Evo was that I couldn’t get it on my head. I double checked the size and it was labeled correctly. Then I lifted the chin bar and tried to pull it on again. It was still a little difficult to put on but I got it on. Once the helmet was in place it was a perfect fit. I was a little skeptical about the fit when I was trying to get it on but once it was in place the helmet has a good snug feeling all around the crown of my head. The cheek pads were nice and tight like you want a new helmet to fit. With the neck roll in place the base of the helmet is pretty small but that was done to create a good seal from the base of your head and around the jaw line. This helps keep the helmet stable and reduce road and wind noise. The neck roll is removable for use in hot weather or if you need a bit more room around the base. The overall shape of the shell is the same as the original N104 helmet, which is a slightly narrow shell shape. If you have a more rounded shaped head or if you get a real tight fit in brands like Shoei or HJC then you might want to order one size up. Nolan did make a few changes to the venting system with the N-104 Evo. Nolan removed the brow vent which really did not do much good since it vented directly to where the drop down visor stores when not in use. They also increased the size of the chin vent and left the top vent alone. The rear venturi vents have not changed either. The venturi exhaust vents did a great job on pulling the heat out the back of the helmet anyway so why fix it if it’s not broken. The antibacterial padding on the inside is very comfortable and is fully removable for washing. Overall Nolan took a great helmet and improved upon it by tweaking the venting, and reducing road noise. :: Aaron, 10-20-14
