Our Two Cents

Mobile Warming® was designed with outdoor enthusiasts in mind; the range of applications is widespread including motorcycling, skiing, hunting, hiking, fishing, and just everyday use (I wish I would have had one last time I was at a football game and my seat was located in the shady side of the stadium). Mobile Warming’s breakthrough technology gives unprecedented heating and warmth for an entire day at the touch of a button exceeding the heat transmitted by any other form of insulation available in outerwear today. It’s designed to work as a base layer under a rider’s motorcycle jacket, and is powered by a portable rechargeable battery power supply. Fully charged it can offer up to 10 hours of warmth to the rider with continued use. The battery takes just 2-3 hours for a full charge. Both battery and charger are included and very easy to operate. There are lots of good heated gear choices out there which require that you hook up to your bike’s battery, but this line is unique in that it’s operated with a rechargeable battery. Will the Mobile Warming gear provide as much warmth? Probably not quite as much as the heating elements don’t run throughout the garment but are located in two zones on the upper chest and one on the upper back. On the other hand, the other heated gear lines that I’ve seen feel more like you’re wearing an electric blanket and this jacket is very comfortable to wear. The heated zones on the chest and back do provide a lot of warmth and it felt like the heat spread throughout the torso. Another thing I really like about this jacket is how nice it looks on its own, Holly really liked how it fit and felt like she could easily wear it off the bike. There are two zippered hand-warmer pockets and one zippered chest pocket so there is a fair amount of storage space. The sleeves have a cuff with an opening for your thumb so it’s easy to put this on under a motorcycle jacket; it also has a built in gaiter on the sleeve to keep wind from blowing up your arms. The collar, sleeves and lower back are lined in microfleece, which feels nice and soft against the skin. Overall, I have to say I’m really impressed with the quality, fit and finish on this jacket and think it’ll be a good addition to a rider’s gear; it will definitely extend your riding season past the time when you normally might have put the bike away until spring. Please be sure and read the technical info before using the first time so that you get maximum enjoyment out of the garment. :: Paul, 11-08-11
