Sizing Information

We checked the fit on these pants with our size mannequins and find they run consistent with Tour Master’s size chart (see below). Take a look at the sizing chart provided by Tour Master to find the pant liner that would fit you the best. Keep in mind that heated apparel is most effective when worn right up against your body. For this reason you should only wear a light layer of clothing underneath the heated apparel.

Our Two Cents

The Synergy 2.0 heated pants are the second generation of this garment from Tour Master. What’s different? Basically just two things; they’re now using flexible steel fiber heating elements instead of the carbon fiber heating elements used in the previous version. The steel fiber elements heat up instantly, are lightweight and provide safe and even heating. Secondly, Tour Master found that most users weren’t purchasing just the pants, they were buying them in conjunction with a heated jacket liner or vest liner. So, they’re no longer including the power lead wiring harness and Rheostat controller with the pants (these parts do come with the jacket and vest liners); why have to pay for something that most likely is going to sit in a drawer somewhere? With the price of many motorcycle apparel garments going up fairly drastically, Tour Master was able to hold down costs for their customers this way. Now, on to the review of the pants themselves. The pants are very easy to slip on and take off; the waist band is elastic with a fair amount of stretch and the legs have expanding stretchy panels running from the crotch down the leg to behind the knee for a non-binding, comfortable fit. In addition, there are accordion stretch panels over the knees and behind the calves, again for a more comfortable fit, especially in a riding position. They are thin and lightweight, yet will provide a surprising amount of warmth, extending your riding season well into those months when you might normally have put the bike up for the year. If you plan on using these pants with a Synergy jacket or vest liner, simply connect the pants to the jacket; the pants connector is housed in a small pocket on the front of the pants just below the waist. In this configuration the jacket controller will set the temperature for both the pants and the jacket. There is another connector on each lower leg (also housed in a small pocket) for connecting heated insoles, which are new this year. If you do decide you’d rather purchase just the pants without a jacket or vest, you’ll need to buy a power lead harness to hook onto your bike’s battery and a Rheostat controller (a single controller if all you’re going to run is the pants or a dual controller if you will also be buying gloves or insoles). These parts are sold separately. No matter which configuration you decide on, these electrically heated garments are easy to wear, the controls are easy to operate and you will enjoy riding during those months when you previously weren’t able to ride because it was just too cold. Please be sure to read the installation guide that comes with whichever Synergy garments you decide on before using them so that you’re hooking them up properly and getting maximum enjoyment out of them.

The nicest thing you can do for yourself if you ride all year long is to invest in heated gear. It is a warm comfortable bubble you take with you. These pants are the final part of my winter ensemble. (Read more...)

The good news: this stuff works! Installation was easy enough (note to self: disconnecting the battery resets the trip odometer), and the jacket heats up quickly (I haven't tried the pants or insoles yet). Pants/jacket are well insulated so they'r... (Read more...)
