Sizing Information

I measured every single size of the Longmen pant. I noted the waist size when relaxed and also when it is nearly fully stretched. Also, I took a measurement of inseam.

The overall fit of this underwear is SLIM, and the fit for any given size is much smaller than you’d expect. They fit particularly small in the legs from the thigh down and in those areas, they don’t have much give. On the flip side, the seat and waist fit sort of loose and there is not much butt in them. After putting them on, and sitting, they tend to pull down in the back.

My conclusion is this: if you are skinny and don’t have much of a butt, then you’ll probably like how these pants fit. And you can choose a size using the chart below. Pick the size so that your waist falls into the lower end of the waist range. If you are stocky, or have a waist bigger than about 38, or if you have a good size booty, or if you are female (except females with extremely slender hips), then you won’t find a fit in these pants. A bummer, I know…

As for inseam, the measurements for each size are about what you’d expect considering they are designed to only reach to the top of the foot. Overall inseam isn’t all that important in thermal underwear, but I thought I’d list it anyway.

Size Waist Relaxed Waist Stretched Inseam
XS 24” 26” 28”

Our Two Cents

I had high hopes for these Longmen pants, but the fit issues described above are going to limit the audience by a lot. Stocky builds and those with a substantial booty need not apply. It is a shame too, because the similarly designed Longmen shirt is such a hit. Anyway, aside from the fit, the technology in the pants is similar to that in all the other Mobile Warming products. There are lots of good heated gear choices out there which require that you hook up to your bike’s battery, but this line is unique in that it’s operated with a rechargeable battery. Will the Mobile Warming gear provide as much warmth? Probably not quite as much as the heating elements don’t run throughout the garment but rather are located in three zones in the pants… the middle of the waist band in the center of your back and on the tops of each thigh just above the knees. Other “wired” heated gear lines that I’ve seen feel more like you’re wearing an electric blanket and of course put out more wattage. But if you like the appeal of NOT having to wire up your garments to your bike, then this (and other) Mobile warming products might be just the thing. These pants are a slim fit, sort of like long underwear. The material is a bit thicker and would give good insulation and the location of the heating elements is not noticeable (until turned on of course). The battery pack is on the waist band and is secured by a clip. There is a short length of wire, so what you’d most likely wind up doing is clipping the battery on the waist of the pants you wear over these. :: Paul, 11-25-13
