Sizing Information

Like other European based brands, we find Dainese gloves to run a bit on the snug side as compared to most US based brands. The fit is comparable to Alpinestars and REVIT. The tendency to run small is not so noticeable that we’d advise you to buy one size larger, but if you are sometimes in between sizes, your best shot would be to choose larger. Hopefully you’ve had some experience with buying gloves and can choose based upon the fit of a previous pair. If you have no previous experience with glove sizing, go here for help.

Our Two Cents

The 4 Stroke gloves by Dainese are some high tech looking and feeling gloves! These gloves have a variety of substantial armor integrated into the design. These gloves come in a short cuff or a long cuff design (check the link at the bottom of this page to see the other version).

This glove has a compliment of protective features that are very substantial. The knuckle of course has a hard protector over it capped with an intricately shaped metal plate. The plate adds some slide protection and also looks great. And behind that knuckle plate are some layers of impact absorbing materials. There are several hard plastic “sliders” too. Like most serious race gloves, the heel of the hand has a slider which give impact protection but also promotes sliding rather than rolling when it impacts rough pavement. There are also slides along side the pinkie finger. Those slider are on top of double leather in that area. The pinkie is one of the most damaged parts of the hand in a fall so extra protection there is certainly welcome.

The short cuff version (sold on this product page) closes at the wrist with a Velcro strap and stays on quite securely. The long cuff version (see link below), has a longer cuff with substantial protector pieces on the outside of the wrist, and the long gauntlet is adjustable to fit over most jacket sleeves. This is the type of glove used with race suits and race jackets that have very slim sleeve ends around the wrist.

This entire glove (either long or short version) setup us CE rated which speaks to the complete nature of the armor setup. :: Paul, 08-13.18

Dainese says: These CE Cat II certified short summer gloves were specifically designed for the most demanding riders in terms of ergonomics and performance but also feature a high degree of technical content and an aggressive design. 4 STROKE gloves attain new standards of quality and performance in the new EVO version. The technical content is always of the highest order thanks to composite stainless steel and TPR inserts on the knuckles and backs, to new external construction which reinforces the little finger, to thermoplastic resin inserts on the finger joints and to the Distortion Control system at the base of the little finger. Grip too is improved thanks to micro-injections and the fact the the leather palms are evenly reinforced. Top class comfort and ergonomics as always thanks to elasticised inserts, pre-curved fingers and Microelastic inserts.
