Sizing Information

The fit of Alpinestars gloves is very consistent from one model to the next. And overall, they fit a bit small as compared to other brands we carry such as FirstGear, Tour Master, etc. It’s not enough to recommend that you buy a larger size (especially if a snug fit is preferred) but it is noticeable enough to say that if you are sometimes between sizes, then you should probably choose the larger of the two. Hopefully you’ve had some experience with buying gloves and can choose based upon the fit of a previous pair. If you have no previous experience with glove sizing, go here for help.

Our Two Cents

These new GP Tech gloves by Alpinestars are definitely the very best racing glove we offer. Alpinestars makes products for all kinds of riders, but they invest more in technology for racers than any other brand we carry. The glove by this model name has gone through a number of revisions since I’ve been in this business and none have been extreme, but rather they iterate the design from one to the next to make slight improvements with each new version. This glove offers a lot of typical race glove features, such as Kangaroo palms for great control feel, back of the hand hard armor protection and lining. Beyond the typical, this glove offers extraordinary protection for the wrist, palms and pinkie finger. The gauntlet is a combination of leather and molded protectors. I’ve tried on several gloves with a hard gauntlet, but this one is the best…. the material is firm, but not completely rigid like hard plastic, the shape is excellent and has a leather under-chassis that allows full range of movement for the wrist. Really, you couldn’t even tell you had a hard gauntlet glove on once you have them on your hands… they are comfortable. The gloves have two hard sliders in the palm area of the hand, which are designed to slide on pavement rather than grab (and twist). These new palm sliders are very firm but not completely hard like with some gloves. I would think that would lead to less injury by transferred forces (as compared to very hard plastic ones). And finally, the construction of the outside of the hand and up the pinkie finger is much improved. They now brand it K-tech. This protection scheme involves several layers of leather, and given the small area where it is used, you’d suspect it might become uncomfortable or non-flexible, but they’ve done a great job of offering this protection with virtually no loss of comfort or freedom of movement. Overall, these gloves are very comfortable and of course you can trust Alpinestars to give you the very best protection possible for a race glove. :: Paul, 09-27-13
