Sizing Information

These gloves are consistent with the major American based brands we carry such as FirstGear, Tour Master, Joe Rocket, etc, so hopefully you’ve had some experience with buying gloves and can choose based upon the fit of a previous pair. Our Two Cents

The Scarab 2.0 winter glove is an excellent choice for an insulated waterproof leather glove and would work well for street or sport riding. The styling of the gloves is definitely more sporty than “normal” insulated gloves. And these gloves have a surprising amount of armor and protective features.

To make these gloves waterproof, they are constructed with a waterproof/breathable membrane (branded Hipora) which keeps the water out, but still allows hand moisture to escape. For cooler weather the glove is insulated with a material called Thinsulate that is great at providing warmth, but doesn’t make the glove excessively bulky.

There is plenty of protection built in to these gloves. The gauntlet has some hard armor on the outside of the wrist for impact protection. And the knuckle has a hard plastic armor piece as well. The palm and the sides of the thumb and backs of the fingers have padded areas which are covered in a thick, highly abrasive fabric which will help with abrasion in case of a fall. And of course the entire glove is leather which is the best material for abrasion protection.

Other notable features: The interior of the glove is lined with soft nylon material. The index finger and thumb have conductive leather so you can operate your smart phone (although I found the pad on the index finger to be poorly positioned, but the thumb one works easy enough for basic tap and swipe maneuvers). The gloves are kept securely on the hand with a wrist strap and Velcro closure. The left hand glove has a little wiper for your shield built in (although most gloves place theirs on the index finger where this one is on the thumb… I guess that works too).

I personally think there is good value in this glove. For under a hundred bucks, the protection features are well above the average insulated glove. For those that want a more sport oriented, winter glove, this one will do well. :: Paul, 03-22-17
