Sizing Information

We checked the fit of this jacket and found it to run true to the sizing chart. For the fit test, Laverne and Shirley are standard size 6 and 12 respectively (take the link to see specific chest/waist/hip measurements) and they are wearing sizes Small and Large. As you can see the fit is comfortable and each has a bit of downward adjustability with the Velcro waist adjusters. Take the “View Larger Images” link above to see how our test subjects look in their jackets.

We chose the sizes for our Fit Check using the chart below which is provided by Tour Master. We suggest you make your selection in the same way. If you are between sizes, then our suggestion would be to choose the smaller. At the time of this writing, Tour Master is not providing a conversion from their “alpha” sizes to a women’s dress size. Regarding the Estimated Height given: I think Cortech’s estimates are based upon an “ideal” and indicate unnecessarily narrow range, so take those measurements as a guideline only.

Our Two Cents

The Trinity jacket is a long running model for Tour Master and this is the third iteration of the style. Along with the expected black and silver is a new cream color. A 3/4 length (meaning longer than a waist length sport jacket) is practical and stylish and is ideal for touring or commuting. The longer torso on the body will give more protection from the elements and also is considered by some to be a more flattering cut. Since this jacket is used for both street and touring, it comes with a lot of storage options… two zippered hand warmer pockets outside and three large pockets inside. Cortech gives you the same pockets on the removable liner as with the jacket’s liner, so whether you use the liner or not, you’ll have the same storage layout. The shoulders and elbows of the jacket come with removable CE approved armor and there is a triple density back pad that is more substantial than many. The jacket is suitable for a fairly wide temperature range from cold to warm weather. For cold weather use, the jacket includes a removable full sleeve liner which should work great. And the jacket is equipped with a waterproof/breathable “mid liner” to keep water out in case of rain. The mid liner is installed between the jacket’s shell and the inside mesh lining. This type of liner is very effective against leakage. The jacket has some pretty substantial zippered venting… two zippered shoulder vents and one rear exhaust vent, which should catch some pretty good air and provide some comfort in warm weather. For really hot weather, I would recommend buying a full mesh jacket though. Even though this style has the zippered vents, the mid liner serves as a barrier to direct air flow to your skin and therefore won’t provide enough venting for really hot weather. The sleeves, cuffs and waist of this jacket are all adjustable giving the jacket a secure “custom fit” feel. Take the “View Larger Images” link above to see some good closeups of the jacket and its features. You’ll also see our “Fit Check” photos and some night shots to show you how the night time reflectivity strips work (very well actually). This style has been a crowd pleaser for many years and the third version will be as well. It is a good combination of practicality, style and value. :: Paul, 10-24-12

The venting on the Trinity jacket work very well for a passenger as they are up on the shoulders and work like scoops. The back venting is up high, so it continued to work even while wearing a small backpack. The jacket also features a large number of pockets and adjustments. (Read more...)
