Sizing Information

This jacket is sold in US “alpha” sizes. Here are the measurements that Speed and Strength provides for this jacket:

Size Small Medium Large XL 2XL 3XL 4XL
Chest 38-40 40-42 42-44 46-48 50-52 54-56 58-60
Sleeve 33 34 35 1/2 36 1/2 37 37 1/2 37 1/2

We find the overall fit of this jacket to be a bit more relaxed than the average sport type jacket. The chest sizes listed above seem accurate. If you have a bit of a belly, you might want to check with a tape measure and make sure that your belly isn’t bigger than about four inches less than the jacket’s chest size (for example, an XL jacket would accommodate a belly up to about 42 to 44 inches).

Our Two Cents

The Devil’s in the Details Textile Jacket provides for the maximum comfortable temperature range. I’ve seen a lot of “convertible” jackets come through New Enough. Some are pretty well thought out and others are just way too complicated, but this new jacket by Speed and Strength offers one of the best designs I’ve seen. The jacket has a two part shell. The outer part is typical ballistic nylon. And the inner shell is typical nylon mesh. This allows you to wear the solid nylon shell for fall and spring and remove the shell for hot weather riding in the summer. I’d say about 80% of the jacket becomes mesh with the outer shell removed. You can even go into a partial vent mode by partially opening the horizontal zippers (that secure the outer solid nylon) and opening the rear exhaust vents. Taking the entire outer shell on and off is a bit of work, so having this partial vent mode will be handy when you are riding in milder weather conditions. Take the “View Larger Pictures” link above to see some good shots of the jacket’s “convertible” construction. Of course a jacket like this could never be made waterproof (with all the zippers and such), so this one comes with a waterproof “dry tech” liner which is zipped inside the outer shell to keep your body dry when it rains. The liner will also be useful on cool mornings when the jacket’s outer shell is removed. It will block some wind and keep you warmer. The main zippers under the jacket’s front and back yokes are cleverly positioned to add to the jacket’s styling.
