Sizing Information
These pants are sold in Alpha sizes and allow for some waist adjustment. We find the pants to run small as compared to Alpinestar’s sizing chart. We developed the following chart to help you get the best fit based on your US pants size. This fit estimate is assuming you’ll be wearing the pants over underwear only (not over other street clothes). These pants really aren’t made to be worn over other street clothes, but if that is your intention, you’d want to order one size bigger.

Our Two Cents
The Scout Touring Drystar pants are much like other Alpinestar textile pants, but these are made with a lighter and more “agile” material which is aimed at the adventure/touring rider. Not sure why exactly a lighter, more flexible fabric would make a difference to an adventure rider, but that is the answer I got from the Alpinestars rep when I asked the question, “What’s different here?”. The pants have the waterproof Drystar lining (between the pant’s outer fabric shell and the interior nylon lining) that should effectively keep you dry in wet weather. The pants also have a substantial removable insulated liner. The combination of layers should provide a great deal of warmth on cold rides. The pants have two front hand pockets along with two rear zippered pockets. For protection the pants include removable CE approved knee armor that extends down the shin providing good coverage and there is also some comfortable foam hip padding. You also get a large strip of reflective piping running across the back of the pants for increased nighttime visibility. Take the “View Larger Pictures Link” above to see some good closeups of the pants and their features.
