Sizing Information

We checked out the size of these jackets on our Fit Check mannequins Laverne (who is a size 6) and Shirley (who is a 12). We had a size Small for Laverne and a size Large on Shirley, and both fit well. So I conclude the size chart offered by River Road is pretty accurate. You can use your measurements to pick a size, or use your dress size. Hopefully both will correspond to the same size. If anything, the two jackets fit a bit loose, but the mannequins only had a light tee shirt underneath, so if you are somewhere between sizes in the chart, I’d recommend the smaller of the two.

Our Two Cents

The new Rambler jacket is one of four new leather styles we’ve added by River Road for the 2014 season. I’m finding that all these new styles are functionally very much the same, but they vary by the styling, color and texture of the leather. The Rambler has sort of a classic, cafe racer look to it. The leather is all black and is soft and has only a very slightly “distressed” treatment along the edges to make it look a bit aged… but not too much so. These River Road styles are great for the bike, but also for casual wear. Climate control features are specifically built in for riding. This style includes some pretty extensive zippered venting… on the upper shoulder and in the rear and also the sleeve zippers are “two way” and zip down from the top to open an air channel up the sleeve. And for cooler weather, you can close those zippers and utilize the removable full-sleeve thermal liner. The liner is “mid weight” and should provide good insulation and then of course you can layer with other clothing from there. Also, you get the usual storage pockets most motorcyclists like… hand warmer pockets, a wallet pocket inside and a couple storage pockets in the liner. The jacket does not come with armor, nor are there any provisions for adding it. This style will have appeal for almost any type rider because the style doesn’t denote any particular bike or style of riding. Overall, I like all these new leather styles by River Road. :: Paul, 11-25-13
