Sizing Information

Fit of the jackets is pretty close to standard although they do run a bit small in the larger sizes. Use the chart below to select a jacket size based upon your chest and belly measurements. You’d want to pick the smallest jacket that would be big enough for both your chest and belly. If you have a big chest (relative to your waist), use the side waist adjustment tabs to cinch the waist down to get a good fit.

Our Two Cents

Its not often we are able to offer a really nice sport leather jacket on closeout. Sure, we have many less expensive jackets on closeout all the time, but rarely does a manufacturer offer one of their higher-end jackets at a bargain price. So if you’ve been looking for something upper-end, but on closeout, look no further. This 990’s most unique feature is the outer shell’s leather made by Pittards® of England. The Pittards tanning process produces a higher strength leather that is beneficial to motorcyclists since it offers high abrasion resistance, but is soft and comfortable. My personal observation: the leather feels soft but thick with a smooth finish which usually indicates move expensive hides. I like it. For crash protection you get CE molded rubber body armor pieces in the shoulders and elbows and a foam spine pad. The armor pieces are sturdy feeling, but also flexible and should provide a high degree of impact protection along with freedom of movement and comfort. For temperature control, this jacket has sleeve vents in the biceps areas, and also some cool looking ram-air shoulder vents. Like other sport jackets, this one offers a tapered/snug fit, but there are stretchy fabric inserts in the arms, and stretchy leather incorporated behind each shoulder to help with comfort, especially when reaching forward (in a sport bike position). One neat idea: the sleeves have a zippered closure like other jackets (best arrangement for speed and ease of taking the jacket off), but on the opposite side of the zipper, there is a Velcro-close adjustment to adjust wrist size—clever. I like the overall look and feel of this jacket. Its very much like the top half of a high quality racing suit. Speaking of which, if you need sport leather pants, I’d suggest the Joe Rocket Speedmaster leather pants in either solid or perforated leather.
