Tourmaster Intake Mesh Jacket

Hmmmm… fit on this model is a little tricky, This jacket offers a substantial removable liner (consists of a windproof shell and a insulated inner-liner), so naturally the jacket fits tighter with the liner installed. The overall fit of the jacket with the liners installed is pretty close to the indicated size of the jacket (and maybe a bit on the big side), but with the liners removed, the jacket fits about one size larger than the size would indicate as shown below:

My thinking is that most people will use this jacket without the liners or just with the windproof liner. The part that adds the bulk is the insulated liner and will be used least often. If you agree that you’d typically wear the jacket without the thermal liner, I’d suggest you buy one size smaller than normal. If you often between sizes, then choose the smaller of the two.

The Intake Jacket offers a lot of functionality for a great price. This jacket is designed primarily for hot weather riding so the outer shell is a loose weave mesh material that lets the wind blow through. Solid textile material is used in the shoulder/elbow areas to beef up impact protection. A full set of “GP type”, CE rated hard armor is provided in the shoulders and elbows along with a foam back protector. Most folks find themselves in cooler weather even in the summer at times such as an early morning departure or a mountain pass. To help with this, the Intake includes both a full sleeve wind/water proof liner and a full sleeve insulated liner. So depending upon the weather, you can choose to wear the windproof liner alone (such as in wet/cool conditions), or if it’s even colder, put in the insulated vest for more warmth. The liners make this really a three season jacket. Another neat aspect of this design is that you can use the liner(s) separately to wear when not on the bike—a handy feature for those doing touring that want to save space in their bags.
